Importing models from Warframe
Title says most of it. Would it be possible for anyone to swipe the player models from Warframe and rig them up for use in SFM?

According to Wikipedia warframe is built on Evolution Engine so the models are not compatible with SFM. If there exists a decompiler for evolution engine to convert the models into blender or maya it would be possible, but would probably take a lot of work. I have no modeling experience, myself.

I'm trying to port them, but it seems impossible

Gah. I don't suppose there's a way to import it into, say, Blender and then export it as a different, more compatible file type?

From what I've read, Evolution engine assets were never ported successfully. Some managed to unpack the archives, but Digital Extremes seem to have gone out of their way to make decrypting them nigh impossible.

reminds me of blue tongue and their work on Jurassic Park operation genesis. There was a whole modding community around the game that was doing great work with skins and stuff, even managing to write new ai for the dinos, but the entire thing came to a grinding halt once it was realized no one could import new models because of the proprietary format the models were in.

One guy managed to make an extractor to get the existing models into maya/sd3/etc, but wasn't able to make a way to import them.

And it was sad cause there were at least a dozen models created, skinned and had all the scripts made for them and ready to be put in, but nothing could ever be done with them.

Yeah, I know what that's like. I had started up a brief mod community for a made by Wolfire. A really old one, can't even remember the name of it. You could get models and such in and change existing ones, but you couldn't change any of the coding and such. Even the dev lost the original files. There was a big plan to add a ton of new content and such to the game because it was so bare bones.

I saw that! I was SO excited! Now we just need to get it, and the other model packs they're going to be making (Male, Grineer, weapons, etc) and port them over to SFM! Or, if someone could simply tell me how to get mods from Gmod Workshop into SFM, I'd really appreciate it.

Evolution engine uses XNA models, so we know how to make skeleton. I also know that this engine is quite similar to the Unreal, so process of model porting should also be similar. The problem is that it is closed, I mean I can't fet access to the models and all the suff

Isn't bioshock infinite on unreal?
Puzzler 21 DIC 2013 a las 12:03
yes, it is

Puzzler, if the only problem is finding a way to access the models,I'm positive that there's a way to get them. And obviously, someone has figured out how. I wonder if I should go about contacting them and see about getting the raw files so I can import them to SFM...
Puzzler 21 DIC 2013 a las 23:36
Well, I meant, it is the main problem. Converting them is also a complex process, but I think I know how to do that. And, we can always ask that guy who has imported female models, NikouT

Well, where did Jack get the Song bird model?
Bonnie the Bunny 22 DIC 2013 a las 17:52
I assume from Bioshock Infinite.
