Doesnt matter anyways. Right by where they have that option, there is a note saying no matter how you export it, its gonna automatically export it as png. Well, I think its PNG, not quite sure.
Or am I going crazy and it doesnt reall say that?

But anyways, just to let you know:

jpeg is lowest quality, so its good for fast renders.
png is highest quality, so its bad if you want to render fast.
If I am wrong, someone please point that out.

JPEG is lossy
PNG is lossless
JPEG is good for colourful images and sharing on the internet due to smaller file size.
PNG is good for hard detail, such as text, vector lines, etc.

Go JPEG for renders.

Are you actually serious about not using PNG?

same quality for a fraction of the file size? why not?

it should also be noted that rendering as TGA is actually the fastest option. and no loss of quality. just isn't supported many places.

Same quality? Do you know what a JP(e)p file is? It's a lossy file, with less quality. Maybe not that noticable for the pony eye without zooming in, but I'd say PNG is a better option, especially when stuff is worth looking good, or if it's to be edited in another program. Transparency falls in under that category.

you wouldn't get transparency from sfm anyway. it's not like you can do a vector without greenscreen and an editor.
Zappy Jan 3, 2015 @ 6:19am
Greenscreen? Who wants greenscreen? That leaves ugly green tinting around the edges. When I say transparency, I mean transparency, not greenscreen, bluescreen, or orangescreen.

"That leaves ugly green tinting around the edges."

not if you do it right. XD

and like i said, you can't get transparency from sfm anyway.

Can't I get transparency from Source FilmMaker? Huh. Then I must be doing something wrong.
raptornx01 Jan 3, 2015 @ 6:50am
if you can get a vector directly from sfm with no outside editing, I haven't heard of a way yet.
Zappy Jan 3, 2015 @ 6:50am
Outside editing? Yes. But proper transparency? Yes.
