Portal 2 wall and floor props
I'm f*cking tired. I've searched for the props, and I just can't find them.

So please, help me, I've imported Portal 2 to my SFM. Now, I need to create a basic level or "chamber" for shooting, and I can't find the props to make the walls and floor out of. What are they called? I've searched with keywords "panel", "floor", "wall" etc and can't find anything.

Nahh... if i wanted to create a room with those plates, i'd have to use atleast couple hundred plates. that's over 200-300 models in my animation se list. So... no.

Seems like i can't make the movie then. I just have to abandon the project. I can't find anything. + noone in the community seems to know anything, so.. i'm done.

have you tried scaling up the models, then using the material override matrix > $basetexturetransform to shrink the texture back to it's original size?

I've tried to scale them by "adding scale to transform", but it didn't work : / The scale won't change when using the slider.

Why not just make in Hammer? It's easier.

there should be another bone that moves the entire prop (possible static prop, or root, or some other name). try addin scale to that.

Just make like 4 tiles, and group them together, and then copy that group over and over. Or just make the map in Hammer, which would save so much time.

You mean, if i group the models together, they will form 1 model? Damn :o How do i group them then?

And i can't unfortunately make the map in Hammer. I would if i could, but i need to be able to do this http://youtu.be/tax4e4hBBZc?t=26s

+ I've had so much problems trying to get it to work, it does work now but i have to launch it in Garry's Mod + adding all the models.. so much work.

Well no they won't form 1 model in the conventional sense. Rather when you select them, they'll automatically be selected together.

You form a group by selecting which items you like and right clicking and clicking on "Group objects"
It'll then put them in a little sub category called Group 1, that you can rename. And when you select that group from the animation set editor, you can manipulate them all at once. It makes copy/pasting environments you build that much easier.

This is possible in Hammer but it would require an understanding of scripting in the engine. It's not easy to do.

The default Portal 2 levels employ moments like that and were made in Hammer, using triggers that exist in it's sdk.

It's always better to scene build a set whenever possible. Plus, trigger events like that won't work in sfm.

also, to group you have make sure show scene hierarchy is checked.

Alright, the situation has developed and i now have a working version of hammer with Portal 2 models in it :) Finally! I also realised that you can export the maps from Portal 2 in-game map making tool.. whatever it's called. So pretty much i have everything i need.

And to raptornx01 and Cuddlebug, you misunderstood what i said. Im not making those panels as an event. Im using the "Arm64x64"models in SFM, which have animations of extending, turning, spinning etc ;)

One final question: Is it possible to use Blender to create a simple, large tile, which could use the portal 2 textures (.vmt), and then export is as a model to use in SFM?
yes. And you can even animate it in blender with physics.

well, the if you bake the arm models into a map in hammer you would lose the ability to animate it.

for the last question. sure, you can. but it would probably be easier to take the panels in the workshop, or any flat model, and use material override within sfm to give it any texture you want. but thats up to you.

I see. Thanks for the help!
