Map material problems
I have a map where one texture is missing. Since I don't know much about maps, my first thought was to fix this via Hammer, but I only have the BSP file, not a file that can be edited in Hammer. Any ideas on how to turn the BSP into a file that can be edited in Hammer (if possible), or how to fix a missing texture is a BSP map?

I've heard about a program called BSPSource. Look it up.

What is the map and what is the missing texture?

The map is from the workshop I think. It's called gm_mountainside and the road itself is missing. Just a criss cross of white lines.

here's what you do;

1. download bspsource
2. decompile the bsp file, which will generate a vmf file
3. open SFM's sdk hammer, open the vmf
4. use the error checker / texture replacer, fix textures
5. save as, rename the map if you haven't already, then run map

depending on the map, this could take a while
This might sound weird, but I have troubles downloading it. I can only find .rar files, and no setups or .exe files. Care to give me a download link?

the .exe files and such are all in the .rar file. You need to open the rar file with Winrar (which is essentially free by the way)

It's so many files and I can't find the .exe. I did find some .bat files, but I don't know how .bat's work. Could you give me a tutorial on how to use BSPSource, please?

Launch bsp source with the jar file.

The Jar file opens just like the .rar file. Why couldn't they just have packed it all into an .exe? Well, I'll try to look it up on youtube. Thanks for the help.

If you haven't found out how to "fix" that yet, right-click the Jar file, and select Open With > Java.
Ah. Well... I just found out the reason. I don't have Java. Now I've downloaded it and it worked. The only weird thing is that the map doesn't get HDR when I run it.

Make sure to use the "simple" interface for compiling, and make it look like this.[sta.sh]

A huge thanks to all of you! It finaly worked. Guess I just shouldn't have set it to Normal last time, as it stopped in the middle of working. I thought it was done, as it didn't do any progress. Now that it works perfectly, I want to thank you all for helping me out. (As I allready said :3)
