You didn't say easier than what. This is pretty easy relatively speaking.
Either way that's as easy as it's gonna get.

Yes okay, Would just like to avoid having to work with files.
moreover, you can choose skins when you add a weapon to the field.

That method shown in the guide is considered more convenient (for me). If you want your way, well, you have to learn to decompile the model, edit the QC file to allow more skins in a single model, edit the VMT if necessary and compiling.

Not to mention there's a limit to how many skingroups a model can have, and a model with tons of skins will take up ludicrous amounts of memory for no good reason.

Nah, the override materials way is much, much more convenient.

now i need to get the map to work.

Yes but, again, it's much harder to do than to learn to use override materials, which is a skill that will come in very handy for lots of other things. I use it all the time.

Learn what, decompiling / recompiling models, or using override materials? Either way, there's plenty of guides about that here and there, in the SFM guides section for instance.

Okay. i am lost on VMT files.
and why can i get a map to work. i take the map form my game
and SFM it crash.
