Need help exporting GMOD maps from AIN to BSP
I have some maps that I got from the GMOD workshop, but the file is an AIN and not a GMA so it isn't compatible with GMAD. I've looked at countless GMAD tutorials, but none of them talk about AIN files. I'd REALLY appreciate it, because I need to finish an animation, but I don't have the map.

afaik that .ain isn't a map file. it's the guessed Artificial Intelligence Network (or Nodes) file.

i'm sure the map for that is still somewhere else to be found. :)

@episoder Nope, it's ain file. The map works perfectly fine in GMOD, works just like the other maps. Yeah, I'll see if there's gma version of it, gimme a sec. Also, @erduffin Then why did you comment on this discussion?

Also, apparently it's a CS:S map, not sure about that though. I dunno if that's useful or anything, but just letting you know.

Link the map you're trying to convert as as far as I know, Episoder and Zappy are correct, AINs isn't the map. It is logical information for the AI elements of the map.

Yeah, direct from the Valve Developer wiki

An AIN file is a nodegraph for Source engine games. It stores information relating to info_nodes and their proximity and visibility for use by the AI for movement around a map. AIN files are automatically generated by the game. If there is no existing AIN file specific to that map, or if it was generated for an older version of that map, the AIN file ( <MAP_NAME>.ain ) is generated by the game. The message "Node graph out of date. Rebuilding..." is printed to the screen when a build or rebuild is occurring.

The graph files are stored in the ..\<game>\maps\graphs directory.

Source maps are BSP. Not NAV, not AIN, BSP. If you're looking in the VPKs or such, try not looking in the VPKs. At least for Team Fortress 2, the maps are stored outside the VPKs.

Edit: Nevermind, are you saying the workshop download itself was an AIN instead of GMA?
Yes I am.
