Using weapons in diferent taunts

I want the pyro to hold the flare gun while he is doing the party trick taunt. But when I add the flare gun it clips into his butt. Can somebody please tell me how to do it?

import the taunt, make sure it plays ok, position the flare gun, lock the hand to it and then use the playhead slider on the gun. done.
