How do I rip models from other games?
I want to learn the process of taking models from games(PC only). It would be nice to know the whole road to making it work on SFM. I'm willing to dedicate the time(no compromises on quality). Could anyone post some links or take their time to give some indications?

It depends on which game, so you'll have to be more specific. For some engines it's easy, for other's it's nigh impossible.

I'd like to rip from :Dragon Age Origins, Inquistion, SW The Force Unleashed, Brutal Legend, Mass Effect 3(multiplayer) and The Wolf Among Us

dragon age origins runs on eclipse
inquistion runs on frostbite
star wars the force unleashed runs on ronin
brutal legend runs on buddha
mass effect 3 runs on unreal engine 3 (coincidence?)
the wolf among us runs on telltale tool

tl;dr most of the games you mentioned are impossible to port from

can contact the uploaders who have ported from those games in the past and either ask them (nicely) to port what you need, or ask them what tools they used.

Dragon Age Origins runs on Eclipse Engine, Bioware is the developer.

And no engine is ever impossible to rip models from, you just need the proper tool. But in most cases, it takes an astronomical amount of know-how to code such a tool, and the more obscure a game engine is, the less likely it is that someone has done so.

thanks for pointing out dragon age origin's engine, fixing that
most of those engines i mentioned i never ripped from (except unreal 3, thats my specialty), hence why i said impossible

Thank you very much for your detailed responses! I see that every game is it's own case. How hard is to rip models from UE3? Could you give me the details for that?

with ue3 porting being my specialty (look at my artwork), it's not really that hard
all you need is umodel, 3ds max and some plugins for it (actorximporter and wallworm)
im not gonna explain the rest since im too lazy

I think I can take it from here. Thank you for the fast reply!

no problem

I think all of those games (or most) have had rips ported over (and most probably in the workshop). Mass effect certainly, and i'm sure i saw dragon age stuff. and we've had walking dead models for awhile.
