Why Maps Take So Long To Load

So i just used SFM for the first time i think it was yesterday and i want to make an animation only problem is that loading maps take so long even windows just said that its not responding this is like the same as playing team fortress 2 as i have to wait a long time to just load the map

I've heard that having an SSD helps with loading. Also, what are your computer's specs?

Because it's Source. It's an engine that's notoriously slow to load stuff, especially maps.

I don't know, I have excellent systems, sometimes a map will load almost instantaneous (like 15 to 20 seconds SFM instantaneous) other times, I've waited minutes for a map to load. No Rhyme, no reason, just because it's SFM....

It depends on the size of the map and how much stuff it has to load. Still wish I could load Stage faster than 1 minute.

Maps for me take 25-30 seconds at the most usually. I have 2 1TB HDD's at 7200RPM. 1 120GB SSD, i7 4770k and an AMD r9 270 GB OC edition (2gb gddr5)

stage over a minute? o_O that's alot. i only notice the subscriber check thing was always taking time. sucking on the servers. that was a lil in the way. but... it loads a lil async now. a good thing. is that beta only tho? i dunno. :)
