What are the bookmarks for?
I don't know what the bookmarks are about. They sound like something unnecessary. Do they do something for the animation? Do they affect the animation at all? Or do they do nothing, and are just some kind of place holder, like a real bookmark?

They basically allow you to quickly jump between them, like when you press up or down to jump between shots. They do nothing to the animations.

This. You can skip between them in the motion editor with [ / ]. And they are extremely useful.

They may be useful, but I personally never use them.

So it's pretty much just a place holder? I apparently misread some things that I saw.

Kind of, I suppose. But yeah, they're like bookmarks in books. They allow you to quickly get to places in the session.

They good if you use blocking and want to remember where the block is.

Remind me what that is.

Animating "blocks" or static poses in the motion editor, and then using the smooth preset.

the valve tutorials called it pose to pose animation.

They use the graph editor for that, not block animation.

they use motion as well.

either way, it's the same thing, only in the graph editor it auto tweens the keyframes/blocks.
