How do I fix the essential accessories?

I've been doing a poster request, and they requested me to use the essential accessories on the scout. They want it painted white (An Extraordinary Abundance of Tinge).

I've tried the hat proxy method, the rig method and editing VMT file.

Editing the VMT file was the only thing that actually worked, though, it does not remove the base green color of the model, so instead of becoming white, it just becomes a lighter green.

I am sure you can fix this in GIMP, but how?

Any help is appreciated.

You will need fixed textures for it. You can get them here:
