I'd love to know the answer to this one myself...
You can learn a few things from this. All it really is is just making a huge light or two.
I've been trying to figure this out for about two weeks now!! lol
EDIT: Watched video. Values can be altered to suffice. Will be useful.
Also, there's a lack of portal props (I mean things like The Dark Portal, not the Portal gun ones) which would be nice.
Half-Life 2 has some portal/vortex type stuff you might be able to use. Or you could make your own with particles.
