Unreal Engine 5:
- Strengths: Highly advanced real-time rendering capabilities, excellent visual quality, extensive toolset for game development and animation, robust community support, cross-platform compatibility, and a wide range of learning resources available.
- Weaknesses: Steeper learning curve, more complex interface and workflow, may require more technical knowledge, and optimized primarily for game development.
Source 2 Filmmaker:
- Strengths: User-friendly interface, intuitive workflow, specifically designed for creating cinematics and animations using Valve's Source 2 engine, integrates well with other Valve tools, and supports real-time previewing.
- Weaknesses: Limited to the Source 2 engine, fewer features compared to a full-fledged game engine like Unreal Engine, and may have a smaller community and fewer learning resources.
Other free programs worth considering:
- Blender: A versatile 3D creation suite with robust animation capabilities, widely used and well-documented.
- Autodesk Maya (free for students): A professional-grade 3D software with comprehensive animation tools.
- Unity (personal edition): A popular game engine with animation capabilities, suitable for beginners and indie developers.
In terms of beginner-friendliness, Source 2 Filmmaker may have a slightly lower learning curve due to its focused purpose, but both programs require dedication and practice to master. Ultimately, your choice should depend on your specific goals, preferences, and the type of content you wish to create.
Blender is on another level compare to S2fm. So ye :D
I recommend learning blender before unreal engine, Blender is considered "Easy" but it is still "Decently challenging in my noob opinion/experience.
Note: S2fm can't model/sculpt I think, Learning S2fm can't give you as much oppertunities as blender/unreal engine/maya does.
If you want to pursue a career I would recommend maya, Its probably even harder than unreal engine though.
Second note: UNITY ACTUALLY WORKS????
Well researched + well written + good information. NICE!
