Any free editing softwares out there?
Hello fellow SFM animators! So recently, I have been wanting to edit my SFM videos, posters or just anything in general. If there is currently any free editing softwares that are effective and can get the job done (not windows movie maker, not trying to hate on it but it just never worked for me) it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Well, for stills, a good free one is GIMP..,
Audacity is a free audio editing program..,

I don't know if GIMP can be used to edit video or not,
I can't think of any free video editing software off the top of my head, I think Sony Vegas might either have a free version or be free, not really sure though...

if you can get used to blender you could use that to cut.

True, forgot about Blender doing video editing...

Personally I use HitFilm 3 Express. It only does videos up to 720p though, that's something to keep in mind.

I'll keep all of those options in mind. Thank you all! :p

The thing is, the only Hitfilm is HitFilm 4 Express which for some reason wont let me pull up SFM videos

To be honest, the best way to export SFM videos right now is to export as an image sequence.
You then open up your video editing software and "import image sequence".
Most decent video editing software has the option to import image sequences...

Well, that's the thing. I know that image sequencing is the best way to export and just finish it in a video editing software. I'm just trying to find a good free editing software to use that can pull up SFM videos after I export the animation as an image sequence.

Since the export is an "image sequence" that is how you would import it into any video editing software.., as an "image sequence".

Yes, I know. I just couldn't figure out why my image sequences weren't showing up when I tried to pull them up in the editing software. I just uninstalled the software and just reinstalled it

I use Adobe Premiere Pro, and under the "Import" menu is an option labeled "Import Image".
If I click on that and select multiple images (2 or more) I then get a check box labeled "Import as Image Sequence".
That's how I do it, and from what I've seen, a lot of the editing software out there (free or otherwise) is capable of doing the same thing. You may have to refer to the manual for your specific software to find it, but the option should be there somewhere...

Ah, right, I forgot a step. I use VirtualDub to make the image sequence into an uncompressed AVI file, which I then use in HitFilm.
