How to change camera from rectangle to square?
I'm trying to make a new profile picture, and if I can make my field of view so it's a square instead of a rectangle, while making it, I can get a better idea of what it will look like when squared. thanks in advance. (also I make posters for free)

This is the result I got after searching for "square camera".

Perhaps of any help?

Alternatively, you could place some panel models between your camera and the model you're using for your avatar so that they make a frame-type shape. That's the best I can think of.

This is the idea I was thinking, regarding those panels. You might not be able to get a perfect square, but it'll give you an idea. :)

You can always move them further to the front to make more room. :) The gist of it is just to be temporary as a preview. You remove the panels later to render the image and then crop that in an photo editor. That's my idea, anyway. I don't know of any better ways, but if anyone knows of one don't hesitate to give your input.
Move the horizontal FOV slider and you should have it

Make a 16:9 image that has a 1:1 square in the middle see-through while the borders on the sides are opaque, then stretch it into a resolution where the side lengths are powers of two (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, etcetera), convert it to a VTF, write a VMT for it, and use that as a material overlay.

I'm pretty sure that's only applicable for lights, not cameras, and even then Source FilmMaker seems to use a square field of view for lights using the horizontal or vertical field of view that is largest.
