If you want to use Dota2 assets in the standard version of SFM, they can no longer be ported over from the version of Dota2 available through Steam (making it a different experience from mounting CSS, Half Life, etc content), as Source 2 based assets can't be used in Source 1.
This requires finding an archive of the assets from the Source 1 version of Dota2. These can be found archived out there on the internet, although I'm not going to link directly.
(I wouldn't personally think of it as piracy, given they're assets from a free-to-play game and Valve is fairly cool about modding their games, but the stance on piracy around here is strict enough I won't risk it).
After that, the process is much the same as mounting content from any other Source 1 game, and there's plenty of guides for that:
