Let's chat...
First thing's first, *I PLAN TO COMPLETELY REINSTALL SFM IN ITS ENTIRETY!!! FROM SCRATCH!!!* So I'll need some input on how I should have my content structured, I know having things in dedicated folders will help, so I guess I'm just looking for verification that this is indeed a good idea...

Secondly, SFM vs S2FM, I have HL:A on my wishlist and I head S2FM comes bundled with it, is S2FM better than SFM? S1 model/map support? Is it worth it?

Looking for ideas, and I'll also need a way to cap SFM to 3GB RAM since that's the most it supports, apparently, despite it suggesting 4... or am I missing something?

Nice!
It is pretty good, but limited to an extent, since you only have minecraft rigs, and predetermined keyframe "transitions". I mainly started using SFM because of how limited it is.

Makes sense

Soooooo.... I wanna ask.... to the person who recommended SourceIO... Does it give Blender the sort of same feel of SFM only 1000x more stable?
Ender Shadowborne 24 MAY 2022 a las 1:27 p. m.
I'll also be asking in the Blender discussion to see if anyone would be willing to get together on Discord with me to actively teach me Blender, I think it'd be more effective than forcing myself to learn Blender on my own

No. It just allows you to import models/textures/maps from Source/Source 2 into Blender. You still have to use/animate it like any other thing in Blender (which you may be able to find other add-ons to help with?).

If you come across any that may help, could I trouble you to drop 'em in this convo, please?

Heyyy... soooo... It's been a while... just posting this for any updates I should be aware of, like if user-made stability patches were created or something like that...?

Sadly, no. SFM hasn't been updated in years. There are some python scripts made by the community but they don't do much.

Do they offer stability boosts and the like?

No. As far as I know, scripts are just for helping with animation: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SFM/Python_script_commands

Edit: Found this, this may lower memory usage: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1840/discussions/0/490121928342709171/

The Steam store page for SFM says a minimum of 4 GB of ram. Unless you try to limit how many objects are in a scene, you are probably out of luck. You could try using Blender, i'm pretty sure it plays nicer with memory performance. If nothing else works, your only option may have to be to upgrade/buy a new computer.

It should be noted that there are at least 2 community efforts to "build" a better SFM:

One of them is Pragma FilmMaker, which is essentially SFM interface and most of its functionality based on Pragma Engine: https://wiki.pragma-engine.com/books/pragma-filmmaker/page/getting-started

The other project is "SFM Director's Cut", which I know little about, but AFAIK the idea is to make an optimized version of SFM that is 64-bit and more updated to the moderns standards (I'm not sure about the second part, the first part should be true though): https://twitter.com/SFMDirectorsCut

Both projects are far from done, but they both look promising. So... I suppose there is hope for those who want to purely use SFM.

Vunderbar! Looks very promising! Thanks all!

Already upgraded, and my other system could run it
