CUtlRBTree overflow!
I tend to get this issue a lot, I don't think I have a lot of files subbed to in SFM, but it tends to happen when I'm downloading stuff from the workshop. Is there anyway around this or to fix this? Or is this just a limit on items in SFM? I do have quite a bit of stuff in custom models to begin with.

The only way this is fixed is if I unsub from stuff from SFM which is a real pain if I need something.

CUtIRBTree overflows are caused by SFM running out of indexing space, although it's quite a broad error and there are several indices that can be involved.

The fix(es) depend(s) on exactly when it's happening.

If it's happening after opening search menus, then you need to disable any content folders you're not currently using. Hopefully you haven't just been installing things in usermod (making your content impossible to disable in categories).

If it's happening while SFM is checking the workshop on start-up and you have large numbers of subscriptions ("large" generally being "over a thousand-ish"), you need to back-up your workshop items and then unsubscribe from any items you don't still need updates on.

If it's happening after using large numbers of material overrides... you need to use fewer material overrides.

There are also other possibilities, but these are generally the most common.

My issue is I don't know which ones need updates vs the ones that don't.

It's generally very rare that any item over a few weeks old gets an update, and unless there's something obviously wrong with a model, you probably won't need the updates or even notice what they were about.

The rare cases are usually ports for games that are still updating, where it's possible the author might choose to add new skins/weapons/etc to a pack. (At which point it's usually kind of annoying, because you don't get told what was added/changed when the update comes in, so you have to go and look it up, or guess).

I appreciate it, I'm gonna try going through my Workshop and just removing stuff I know I'm not using. If that doesn't work I'll give your idea a try. Thanks though! :D
