MDLCache: Failed load of .VVD data
Hey,
So yeah, i know that there's many of that topics, but any of them didn't helped me... The problem is that some models that were ported from GMod to SFM, are invisible, as for example

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\usermod\models\damik\b-57b

and this is how it looks inside the folder https://puu.sh/AkLXx/5f0013a39e.png

when i'm trying to load i.e "b-57 (fly).mdl" console replies me with this

Failed to load models/!
MDLCache: Failed load of .VVD data for B-57 (fly).mdl

oh, and forgot to mention, the model is invisible in model viewer and in normal mode.

because the b-57 has to be in a modsffmknowsabout/models folder and the 3 files there need to be named B-57 (fly).mdl, B-57 (fly).dx90.vxt and B-57 (fly).vvd

so the path needs to be something like this?
"...game/usermod/models/models"?
Pte Jack May 12, 2018 @ 12:59pm
no, the path has to be something like game\usermod\models or game\{sfmModFolder}\models

You should not be using usermod as a custom models folder

yea, i have it in "models" folder "\game\usermod\models\damik\b-57b"

First of all, that's still in "usermod". Secondly, as Pte Jack (vaguely) said, the "MDLCache: Failed load of .VVD data for B-57 (fly).mdl" error says/means that the model's files (at least MDL, DX90.VTX, and VVD) must be located at exactly...
-/SourceFilmmaker/game/[folder]/models/B-57 (fly).[extension]
...which means that they must not be in a "damik" folder inside the "models" folder.
The same thing happend to me I tried using the Mario Odyssey Luigi gmod thing and it did not load the model and I went to console and it seed MDLCache: Failed load of .VVD data

Even if something bugged out horrendously with the error message, it should at least say "Failed load of .VVD data for" or something, and I can't imagine that it wouldn't also give a MDL file path afterwards.

Please copy and paste the entire error line here. In addition to that, also hold Shift while right-clicking the MDL file in File Explorer, choose "Copy as path", and paste that here too.

That's not either of the things. It doesn't say "Failed load of .VVD data for" at the beginning, nor ".mdl" at the end, so it's not the .VVD error, and it doesn't start with a drive (e.g. "C:\-", "D:\-", et cetera) while it, again, doesn't have ".mdl" at the end, so it's not the full path that you get from Shift-right-clicking the MDL file and choosing "Copy as path".
"C:\Users\Xavier\Desktop\New folder (3)\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\workshop\models\nickluigi\luigi odyssey\luigi.mdl"

That's only one of the two things that Zappy asked you to provide.

You also need to copy and paste the entire "Failed load of .VVD" error line. (Include the lines before and after if you must, but be absolutely sure you've included all of it).
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
you ment the VVD of the model

No, I didn't. I mean the "Failed load of .VVD data for [stuff].mdl" error that is shown in Source Filmmaker's console.

In that guide I posted, go to the Finding the cause of the problem section and look at Step 8. That is the info that Zappy is looking for here.
