Source Filmmaker

My texture can't be found on my disk?
So i'm working on bringing a custom model into SFM and the thing only uses one texture. Thing is, both the VMT and VTF are on the same folder (so the directory would be "materials/models/(model)/(texture).vtf/vmt) and yet, I get an error in console saying that it "can't be found on disk". Funnier (or not) is that the texture goes on just fine if a $basetexture string attribute is added manually.

I have no clue what's going on so if someone could help explain how to fix this problem, i'd appreciate it.

Oops. Put a double-quote mark ( " ) on both the left and the right side of the path, then try again.
Still seems to be giving me the same message even with the quotations.
i'm supposed to have it looks like this, yeah?
"(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\sourcefilmmaker\game\usermod\materials\models\sunny\memcake\squidmem.vmt"

Ooh, now I see the problem. I have Source Filmmaker in a path without spaces, so if I double-click a path like that in Source Filmmaker, it selects everything. But you have a space in yours, so double-clicking will just select the "word" that you double-clicked on.

Either triple-click the path instead, or manually drag-select from one end to the other.

(Alternatively, in this case, the full path is likely...
"C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\sourcefilmmaker\game\usermod\materials\models\sunny\memcake\squidmem.vmt"
...as one line.)

It worked! So now it showed me this.

"VertexlitGeneric" { "$basetexture" "models/memcake/squidmem" }

...though I know notice that when I open the VMT in my usermod, it didn't seem to save that $alpha you told me to put in to test it out. So things probably didn't save properly and i'll need to check. Either way, this still does leave the issue of how come the it can't find the vtf.

Does it, though? You have the VTF at...
-/SourceFilmmaker/game/[folder]/materials/models/sunny/memcake/squidmem.vtf
...but that newly-found VMT clearly instead looks for the VTF at...
-/SourceFilmmaker/game/[folder]/materials/models/memcake/squidmem.vtf

...ah now i'm seeing problems clearer.
Yeah, it looks like a forgot to add the "sunny" part to the directory.
