Constantly memory crashing
I keep trying to do a project but every time I try to load a model the memory goes up to 1900. By the time I load in three models it goes over 2000 and by the time its at 3000 it keeps crashing. I cant make any projects anymore and I even moved out the materials and models folders in usermod and my models still keep going over 2600. I dont even know where they're all coming from. I removed big packs I didnt need anymore and it hardly put a dent in how much is loaded. I think it loads at least 26000 things and I dont even know why

- What models are you loading?
- What are your system specs?

Your specs are going to determine whether you can run SFM well enough. Memory overload? Look to the RAM. "My specs are fine" isn't good enough here. I've seen people say that, who had below minimum specs.

You also didn't answer my first question.

it somehow loads over 25000 models. I got the dlc's too. I emptied usermod and removed a file where I put the files I didnt need into my folder of sfm content. Despite that all it did was lose 1000 models. With the vanilla stuff alone it SOMEHOW gets 25000!!!!! HOW?!?!?!

But if I let it sit long enough it eventually goes back down....eventually

You've managed to dodge my questions twice. Do you want help, or to sit here and rant?

If you had too many assets, you would be experiencing another error. Memory overloading isn't due to that (at least from what I'm aware of).

Vanilla would mean no DLC. Vanilla SFM has about...11k models? Maybe 19k? I forget. Most of those are gonna be in the TF2 and HL folders....Don't touch those, okay? You can seriously mess up your SFM that way (SFM needs stuff in there to function).

If you've removed all custom content out of usermod, grand. You shouldn't put custom content there anyway (that will also mess up your SFM).

yeah im working on organizing them in separate folders. For each different franchise or whatever im useing them for. Like Halo and star wars for example. So I can just put the folders in there and take them out. Still got to dig through usermod to get all the rest

That's great. You still didn't answer my questions though.

ram is 16.0 GB
I give up. sfm isnt usable for me anymore. It never did this before and now I cant even add 5 models without sfms memory going to 3000 and crashing.

Well, your RAM is fine, so we can scratch that. Do you mind sharing the rest of your specs?

You still didn't tell me what models you're loading, but...

Create a new session, load stage.bsp, and load a couple of the hwm TF2 lads— any spikes there? Unless you've actually given up. In that case, ignore this comment.

I did make a new session. Im loading mortal kombat models. I load in shao kahns throne room, then johnny cage and then dvorah. By then its memory is by 2900. It goes 1900 when I load in the void map. Sfm is pretty much unusable now due to it constantly crashing. I dont know what to do now. It's NEVER done this before

I didn't say to load those models, did I? I told you to load a few of TF2's HWM models. Medic, Engineer, Sniper, Heavy, etc. I'm 100% sure that those models do not cause any errors, as well as the stage.bsp map.

What CPU, GPU(s), amount of RAM, and operating system does your computer have?

To find out what CPU, amount of RAM, and operating system your computer has, press the Windows key, search for and open "dxdiag", and look at exactly what it says besides "Processor", "Memory", and "Operating System" in the "System" tab.

To find out what GPU(s) your computer has, open the Control Panel, change the drop-down "View by" selection list to "Large icons" or "Small icons", click "Device Manager", expand the "Display Adapters" list/group, and look at the exact names of all items in that list/group.
