instead of putting in myfile.smd for whatever in the QC, use myfile.dmx instead.
Advanced and corrective shape keys can be created and modified via Blender Source Tools and the naming convention found under the DMX section of this wiki.

To do more advanced things like wrinkle maps, stereo flexes, and flex controller definitions, you will need to generate the DMX flex controllers with Blender Source Tools and then modify the definitions it generates on a per shape-key basis. Again, reference the wiki for the definitions.
It's actually pretty easy, but you'll need a guide for some of the more advanced things.
You compile a DMX the same as you would a SMD, but there will be no additional files to make or include... any definitions you make for your shape keys are inside the dmx file itself.
