How can I make a glass filled with liquid material?

I'm making a scene in sfm which characters drink whisky. I don't know how to make it happen (I gave characters parented shot glasses). Is it even possible or should I have to learn to do it on adobe after effects?

I used it to make a passable imitation of whiskey in an animation I made a while back. You probably have to alter the color and transparency.
