Need help fixing ground/floor snap
So I'm new to sfm and a tutorial said that I could snap models to the ground by holding shift as I move their root. Whenever I try this, the model just teleports way below the map onto an invisible surface. Is there a way to make it actually snap to the surface I want it on or does the custom map just not have anything sfm considers "ground"?

clipping to the map works fine

Couldn't you try actually aiding me in solving my problem instead of just telling me I don't have one?

It depends on what map you're using. Sometimes it's finicky. Whenever this happens to me, I try to snap it to another prop I have in the scene, or I just place it manually.

So if I want it on the ground, I have to make my own ground?

Not necessarily. You don't have to use the snap feature to get objects on the ground.

For example, you could make a new scene camera, put it close to the ground, and then spawn your model. Since the model spawned where the scene camera is, your model will already be close to the ground.

Do you know of a different way to prevent floating half a foot in the air/clipping half a foot into the ground? Come to think of it it's kinda weird that not a single surface on the entire map is compatible with it...

Aside from careful model placement so that it doesn't clip/float? Not really... You can make your camera level with the ground and then lower the model so it rests right on the ground. Then refrain from moving along the up axis.

Well thanks for the information and if it's not too much trouble,Could you help with a separate (Probably easier) Problem? I want to make the hair of my model not clip through it's shoulders without having to move the hair around it for every pose.

Which model is it? As far as I know SFM doesn't have detection to prevent parts of a model such as its hair from clipping with itself, but maybe someone else has an idea.

It's an Inkling. Thanks for helping!

I have no idea if this works on bones within models, as I have never used it, but, as far as I know, SFMphys is the only way to give SFM "physics" based on the hitboxes of models.

You might try playing around with locks or constraints to see if that helps move the hair automatically.

(Steam thinks the youtube link should be censored apparently so remove the spaces...)
