Can VR be used for motion capture?
Almost all VR games do live-motion capture for it's players.. at least from the belt up.
I was wondering if it's possible if I could use my Oculus Rift to save time in animating. Especially if, like VRchat, the trigger and grip buttons can be used for hand gestures.

Obviously, SFM doesn't have VR motion capture feature but you can use program that could do that, record the motion data, and somehow export it as DMX animation file.

I know there are some who can use XBox 360 Kinect for motion capture, though they need two third-party software and such and it's not always a clean import.

I was wondering if there was something along the line for VR headsets and such.

sine you know vrchat, i'm sure you know that the htc vive allows more trackers, for upto 6-point full body capture. and you know this works on ik-rigged characters only.

you could apply this same setup to record the motion for any software. i'm not aware of any plugins for the common modelling/animation softwares out there tho.

I know XBox Kinect can also be used as a tracker for VRChat... although can only record from it's designated direction. Still a cheaper alternative than foot trackers.
