With that budget, for a laptop (as laptops give less power per dollar than desktops)? I don't really think so... but then again, computer things have gotten both better and cheaper than some years ago (obviously the very best isn't cheaper, but slightly better may be around the same price), and the price depends on how well you want Source FilmMaker to run.

So I'm assuming no desktops around that price are gonna run it well either?

Enough for 2008 laptop boi.

Seriously though, your budget is way too low for a decent laptop. Perhaps a self-built desktop PC with old parts is your best bet. Like GTX 770 or something.

I still rocking with my 2013 mid-tier laptop I bought for $500 and still able to handle SFM very well most of the time.

What kind of laptop do you have?

Toshiba Satellite laptop. I don't remember which model but I do know it has i5 processor (up to 3.2 GHz), Radeon HD 7770M and 4GB (upgraded to 8GB).

It's better you look for better laptop with GTX 950m or something similar.

Well guys, I just found out my computer can run SFM. Sorry about the needless discussion. "Can You Run It?" is a great website

Maybe... but for something that's free, just trying it for yourself is a better option. Maybe "Can You Run It?" cares about if you in theory are able to run it in low-detail scenes, while you may personally want at least 20 frames per second in a scene with 5 characters, 10 props, and 3 shadowed lights with ambient occlusion enabled. Then whether that site thinks and you think you can run it may be different.

Macintosh 2 is better performance-wise.
