Help understanding export facial animations to blender.
I am pretty new to SFM, I have the hang of posing models, exporting to blender and so on. I should add, I am not animating, just posing models to 3d print.

What I am having trouble with is the faces, I can pose the face, and export the facial animation to dmx, but importiing to blender does not work.

I am trying to understand how it works but no dice. I would appreciate any help on this.

Thanks!

I'm not absolutely sure the Blender Source Tools support flex animation imports.

However, if all you need is a static pose, it shouldn't be that much trouble to copy across Flex/Shape Key values manually.

You can only import bone animations, not flex animations. But as Marco Skoll says, you can just set the shape keys as necessary yourself.

I appreciate the answers, but would you happen to know where a how-to is on how to do this? SFM is easy compared to blender hahaha.

thanks!!

If you're asking a question like that, then you're probably rushing ahead!

You need to know Blender fairly well in order to take a non-manifold model (as most SFM models are) and make it suitable for 3D printing.

I'd suggest checking out blendtuts.com - it's not specific to shape keys, but it's a good site for getting a decent grounding in Blender basics.
