Report a translation problem
I personally recommend uninstalling Quicktime (which is no longer supported by Apple, and now presents a security risk), and switching to Image Sequence renders.
These frame-by-frame picture exports (and WAV export) can be loaded and compiled into a full video by most good video editors.
While it does add a step to the process, it's quick, simple and easy. (It takes moments, not the hours an SFM render takes).
There's a guide on it here - it talks mostly about Blender, but the core principles apply to any program that can handle the sequences (personally, I use VirtualDub and WinFF):
