Can I run SFM?
Just got SFM on Steam but I'm pretty sure it doesn't even work with my graphics card, cause its Intel(R) HD Graphics 620.
Can anyone confirm?

SFM will not work correctly on (most) Intel HD Graphics GPUs (note that it is not actually a "graphics card", it is just a "GPU").

SFM has some degree of support for some older Intel HD versions, but we do not specifically track which models these are, as the information is generally bad advice. (We wouldn't want to encourage anyone to purchase a computer on the assumption that those models were suitable for SFM).

if you got it downloaded, just try it. except ambient occlusion and basicly 4 fixed samples for rendering, i got it to work (shadows, dof and volumetrics) on my intel chip, which is basicly the same gpu. an uptodate windows 10 and a somewhat working driver may be required for this.

checking the intel driver website right now, you may have luck and get an uptodate driver for this 6th gen gpu. that 25.X version should do. my 20.X for example is a butchered version number not officially available for my 5th gen gpu (but identical. lol). thx ms hacks. :)

sfm just underestimates the power of intel

What do you mean by that? Intel chips like 620 and 4000 never intended for high-powered software like SFM and most 3D games. If you implying that Intel chip is somehow on par with Nvidia and AMD graphic cards and assuming it should run SFM well becuase of it is just plain silly.

actually yeah intel hd graphics 620 is the same as gt 730 but without vulkan support
and yes intel hd graphics 620 can run it pretty smoothly so stop

Prove? Or you want me to blindly believe you because you say so.

nah. more like a overclocked 710, that means at full boost clock. it doesn't even reach the 720 performance. it sure runs fast enough to pose a character or two in good setup shots.

I’m more concern if that chip could handle more that dozens of assets in a single scene and rendering without overheating too much or super laggy.

well. my chip produces 15 watts. not sure if my ram could deal with the rendering abuse all day. it sure handles my video decoding all the time. mmh. *downloads meet the line up session*

edit: session runs at average 15fps on the hd 5500 https://i.imgur.com/xYaZJiC.jpg

marginally better average 26 fps on the geforce 940m.

more people underestimating the true power of intel hd 620
lolznoboz Dec 9, 2018 @ 12:21pm
but sfm can run on intel hd 620 graphics not that smooth but its ok

Intel HD Graphic 620 deserves to be remain as underestimated because Intel hardly marketed it as cheap alternative for high-powered workload and everyone will never choose it as an viable option when they can opt to laptop with Nvidia or AMD graphic chip that has good track record of handling high-powered workload.

what's the argument about? what you tryna prove? nuts. pointless.

and no... it doesn't reach the 730m. that got higher gflops and rops. the memory bandwidth depends on the cpu's memory controller. the 730m has a 128-bit interface on ddr3 ram. whatever.
