Help locking clothes to a model ?
I have not had any luck in getting the school girl costume to attach to the model, I lock all the required boxes but the skirt always seem to be on a on the wrong pivot. Need to be rotated around a quarter turn to line up

So what I am asking if possible for someone to render the model with the uniform already on the model or please point out what I am doing wrong?

TIA!

Here is the Model I am using

According to the description, that's not possible - the resulting single model would have more bones than Source allows on a single model.

You should unselect any unlocked bones before applying the zero preset - in this case specifically, the "Skirt Root" bone, which is unparented and has a non-zero default position.

If i leave the "Skirt Root" unlocked it moves to the model on a vertical angle =/

I didn't say leave it unlocked (although, yes, you should, because the normal drag and drop process for locking entire animation sets together will not lock to to anything, as it has no match on the parent model).

What I said was to not have it selected when you apply the zero preset.

I downloaded the model to test it, and it works fine with the normal drag-lock-zero process, as long as you remember that the correct process requires that you only zero bones which are locked.

I know it is a big ask but are you able to save the project you have done with the model all done and send it to me ? or do a small screen record and send me a video link Im a little slow at understand but doing my best I thank you for all your help already

It's a pretty simple process you don't need a video to show it. As Marco said, you did something wrong.

Here's a quick rundown:
  • In animation set editor, drag the parent model, in this case, Ryona animation set onto the school uniform animation set. A padlock icon will show up next to the uniform animation set.
  • Select and expand the uniform animation set. While all the bones are selected, hold Ctrl and select the non-locked bones (ones without the padlock icon) to unselect them. So only the locked bones are selected.
  • Apply Zero preset slider.

My install of SFM has been quite heavily modified, including uninstalling a lot of the default content (I don't animate TF2), so sharing project files is impractical (you'll get map errors and the like that may potentially crash your SFM).

As far as a video, doing an individual video for every person who has this problem and doesn't want to watch a generic video on the problem would take me an unreasonable amount of time.

~~~~~
1) Drag the parent animation set (the character) onto the child animation set (the outfit).
2) Expand the child animation set (the outfit), and use Ctrl+Click to deselect any bones that do not have a padlock icon next to them. In this specific case, you definitely want to deselect "Skirt Root" under the "Unknown" category.
3) Only once all such bones are deselected, fully apply the Zero preset slider.
~~~~~

Alternatively, you can try skipping Step 2 and instead doing a Step 4:

4) Select ONLY unlocked bones, then apply the "Default" preset.

However, the default preset is often best avoided, as it will only work on a model that has been loaded since you last loaded a session; the defaults are lost and reset to zero when the session is closed.

I do not know what you mean by deselect? I have loaded both the models into the map and in the sectons there are all empty boxes without a padlock on them to begin with

You seriously have no clue at all or just too lazy to read? Probably the latter, it's obvious.

Alright, that's cool.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
