Within the "tf_paintfix" folder, make a "materials" > "models" > "player" > "items" > "pyro" folder. Now go to that same location within "tf" instead of "tf_paintfix", copy the "smnc_pyro_illum.vmt" and "smnc_pyro_illum_blue.vmt" files, go back to that location within "tf_paintfix", and paste them.
Then use a raw text editor (like Notepad or Notepad++) to open the two VMT files (within "tf_paintfix", not "tf"). At the ends of the files, simply replace...
Lastly, if you haven't done so already, right-click Source Filmmaker in your Steam library again, choose "Launch SDK", click "Edit Search Paths For Selected Mod", and make sure that "tf_paintfix" is enabled and above "tf" in the list. Then reboot Source Filmmaker.
After this, the lights of the Cross-Comm Crash Helmet, Cross-Comm Express, Doublecross-Comm, and Triclops should appear correctly, both with and without custom "paint" applied to them.
