How do I get Bonk Atomic Punch effect in SFM?
I'm making a poster where scout is using his Bonk drink. I can't find the effect or his drink. Where can I find it?

The bonk can model is probably in the tf props folder or in the scout's items, not sure which.
The effect is probably in the particles folder.

The Atomic Punch can is skin0 (cherry fission) and skin1 (blutonium berry) of the c_energy_drink.mdl model Crit-a-cola is skin2 of that same model. The effect, I'm not sure how to get that into SFM.

this is the best I can find without spending a few hours on it...

no, that's not it. After seaching my particle guide for Bonk, atomic, energy, drink, and a couple other terms, I found nothing that comes close to the effect. This has to be an in-game effect only using camera effects and motion blur maybe an overlay or two because I don't see a taunt animation for it either.

Actually there is a bonk effect particle somewhere in tf folder. I forgot which file though. Could be class_fx or something.

Yes. That's the one Pte Jack showed in comment #3 of this thread. And for some reason, it doesn't look like the effect from Team Fortress 2.

Thanks for that Zappy, I can put this one to bed then, thought I was losing my mind.

That was the best I could do with it. Like I said, it's probably something done in-game itself using third person camera effects and maybe overlays.

Without sitting here for hours wasting time searching through particles, overlays and console cvars only to find it can't be easily reproduced, I'm writing this one off.

You know what, thinking further on this, I wonder if the in-game effect is done with a particle model of the scout itself? And I think particle models were broken in the last SFM update, wasn't it?

I don't think they were broken, I was messing with a guide a while back to make a forest and the guide showed how to take the tree models and with the help of the element viewer, turn them into particles, basically...

It's not. It's some kind of wide lingering "rope" kind of effect with refracting materials.

Ahhh, I wouldn't even try to attempt something like that in SFM, even if it is possible.

hey I know its like 5 years. but figured this would help some poor soul who can't find it either

the model is called Energy_drink

you can find it in the C_weapons folders when searching for models

NECRO ALERT

Pretty sure the poor souls can see the old comments with the right answer.
