best and virus free audio converter
Hi, I need the audio converter for converting audio for SFM. I done a lot of research on the internet. And all I know is freestudio audio converter, switch audio converter, and freemake audio converter. But then, I found out they may actually contain viruses. I'm kinda paranoid of viruses anyways. On every search of some other converters, it found out contain viruses, malware, adware, blah blah blah. So I'm kinda lost here. I've tried audacity but sometimes the audio did not play in SFM. I'm getting tired of this search of converter due to some people said it was virus. It was like all converters are not virus free. Can you guys tell me what's the best converter that doesn't destructive and also doesn't cause quality loss?

audacity. Just make sure you get it from a well wstablished website (like the author's site here... https://www.audacityteam.org/ ) and only use links they supply for plug ins (as you will need the Lame convertor for mp3s as well here https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_and_updating_audacity_on_windows.html#winlame ).

As for the audio not not working in SFM, Audacity defaults to 32 bit wav files and they do not work in SFM. You can change the project defaults to 16bit 14400hz in the preferences so that it is the default for all your exports

You should give audacity another chance, it could be the file format that you’re doing it wrong or the sample rate

Uh, I've used freemake and it doesn't have viruses from what I've seen

DOH... Thanks Zappy. I'm pretty deep in another project where 14400 is a constant number and it became a freudian typo here.

I made an error in post #1 where I say the project rate should be 14400 hz...

The actual rate should be 44,100hz (or 44.1khz) not 14,400hz.

Not the program's fault, you must have done something wrong. Audacity is by far the best option.

Yup, i've tried 44100hz and it finally worked

But then the sound i think must not more than 1 minute. When I test the full song, it closes SFM or I should say, crashed

Sfm isn’t like those windows media player thing where you can play them while you animate. More like a quick preview is better. Let’s just say, you want to put in songs then you better know exactly what song, how long and when to put it.

The above and SFM doesn't like HUGE audio files. Your best bet is to slice and splice the audio into short files then place them into your clip as separate chucks, butting them together so you don't get stutter. Oh and I just remembered I had these on Imgur.

This is the audacity default and how to check for rates of your audio clip when imported.

This is where you change the default to 16bit 44,100hz in audacity

Audacity is pretty bad in my opinion when I put it to 44100Hz it sounds deep af.

I personally use Switch Plus cuz it doesn't make the audio deep, (there is a free trial)

You're adjusting a sound track's sample rate (while not stretching the sound to compensate). Don't do that. Instead, only adjust the project's sample rate (which is found at the very bottom-left of Audacity).

Audacity doesn't work for me anyways for some reason..
