If this is the case, depending on which way you turn, you could very well end up seeing nothing but black, as in the 'void' that is outside the map.
One other possibility that comes to mind is that if you are using Discord and have it running while working with SFM, Discord's overlay could be causing this.
It's been known to interfere with SFM in similar fashion to what you are describing.
To fix it, simply shut down Discord while using SFM, and no.., there is no known fix for this, at least none that I'm aware of...
edit1: i don't even have a transfered driver in my software list. i'm certain i was running with a butchered microsoft driver. that's a bunch of rubbish they do. wtf. lol
edit2: graphics driver update doesn't fix it. i can only get rid of the flicker keeping the engine window open. it's nothing in it, but it's bad it can't minimize. very potentially the window manager and process communication broken. most definetely crippled by micropest. those office gui fluff heads got no clue what they heck they doing with this sh!t anymore. pointless add app crap. /rant
'nother thing is, if i swtich to game mode and back i get thrown out of the map.
ugh.
i just got some 'major' crapp update yesterday. rolling this whole system sh!t back and forth takes hours again torturing my harddrive. no thx. sorry. i may just deal with it. luckily most of my other tools and engines still work just fine. sfm isn't really a prio for me. so...
try to tick or untick the "autohide engine window" in the windows menu. seems to be the issue.
what exactly did you do? try to restart sfm with it on. works? if not restart with it off. it should work in one of those 2 states. if not the issue may be more then that.

seen that. "some" doesn't mean everybody. forget about that easy all medicine you think it is. i've been running autohide ever since. it's always been on. doesn't fix this sh!t tho. i trouble shot all sorta thing myself. i gotta turn it off for it to work. so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Always been on, EXACTLY! The problem exists...
BUT, Have you tried turning auto hide off while in a session, Close SFM hile it's in the off state, Restart SFM, re-open the QT Port, and Turn the auto hide off again?
