Dota 2 Particles In SFM
Been following guides for getting Dota 2 content to work in SFM, but all I see is this method to launch a wierd version of SFM through the workshop tools. Is there any way to just get this content working through the normal version of SFM? Would the usual non workshop method of addind content to SFM work, through the usemod folder?

That depends on whether a Source 1 version of DotA 2 is still available.

While I like using usermod for various custom content, many people advise against it, but despite that, even I recommend making a new folder rather than using usermod if you're going to put a whole game's worth of assets into it.

Thanks for your input, something to think about. Only really the particle effects I'm interested in, all the magic stuff is of use to me and there's not enough for my liking on the workshop.

I have noticed however that SFM particle files are in pcf format, while in Dota they are in vpcf. Transferring the files to usermod doesn't seem to have worked so I'm guessing the difference in file format may be causing problems. Gonna go look this up now as I have no idea about the differences between the files, so any input would be most welcome.

If it's "VPCF" in DotA 2, you have a Source 2 version of DotA 2, and Source (1) isn't compatible with Source 2 assets, just like Source 2 isn't compatible with Source (1) assets. Which is a big shame.

Yeah, it really is. Thanks anyway.
