Custom Wav. file problem?
So, I was going to animate this vine video I thought was hilarious and I tried 3 different ways of converting it. Two of the three ways worked, but when I have it in my session, it doesn't play anything. I thought it was pretty large so I edited it in Goldwave and took out some parts and saved it as a wave file. It plays normallly just how i edited it outside of SFM, and inside SFM it shows the waveform as if it was working fine, but I hear nothing. I then thought it was a session error, so i made a new session but it still didn't work and I'm not sure why it's doing this. How can I fix it to where it works normally? I hope I included enough information.

Let's start with the obvious first and work our way from there...

Right-click on the tracks and make sure they aren't muted.
If that doesn't do it, check to make sure the format is correct.
It should be 16 bit PCM 44.1kHz .wav.

If that all checks out, we will have to look elsewhere for the problem...

It wasn't muted, I knew this because the little preview of it didn't play before I actually brought it in. I converted it to 16 bit PCM 44.1kHz and still nothing. I double checked the format was correct also.

Ok, how long is the file?
SFM doesn't like sound files over a certain length.., about 30 seconds I believe...

How? And SFM seems fine when I put in songs that are like 4 minutes long.. so why?

Are these files dialogue, music or both?

Reboot Source FilmMaker, select the sound in the sound list, and then check the console for errors.

I'm fairly certain I have a few sounds about 3-5 minutes long that all work just fine (while one about 6-7 minutes long doesn't work well). I'd say 44100 hertz WAV sounds may be up to 3 minutes long, if you want to be really certain it'll work.

Hmm, seems to me I read somewhere that SFM get's finicky over very long sound files...
Then again, this damn thing will crash out for seemingly no reason, so who knows? lol
