SFM Model Error
Whenever I try to use specific models in SFM, they will appear invisible in the preview area (some will appear as the ERROR sign) and then when I load them in they appear as the big red ERROR sign. This is really frustrating as I just want to use the models. It happens with several of them, like Widowmaker, D.va and others, but not things like weapons. Can anyone help?

Here are some images of what I am experiencing:

And then when I load it in...

Looks like your model browser is broken to begin with, Does any other model display if you select a different model?

If not, Close SFM go to your and common\Sourcefilmmaker\game\platform\config Folder and delete the ingamedialogconfig.vdf file, restart SFM, that should fix your browser. (You should be able to see the Error Model there)...

Now, once that is fixed, Open the model browser and search for that model again. as soon as it appears n the browser select it but don't spawn it. Look immediately at the Console window for an error that says something like, Can't Load or Can't find {path\modelname}.vvd or mdl Paste that error here.

Some do work, it's strangely only a certain handful that don't work. I will try this now and let you know the outcome! Thank you!

Okay, now it just appears like this. I deleted the file in the config folder.

As Pte Jack said, now you've selected (but not spawned) the model...

Omg sorry! I'm an idiot haha. Here's a screenshot of the console as I wasn't sure what to paste here... https://imgur.com/a/Rv0rJ

I did spawn the model which was what made it confusing for me to paste... Never really look at the console so I apologise if I seem a bit dumb haha. Hope this picture is okay.

The models have corrupted. Try to re-download/-install them. (If they are from the Source FilmMaker workshop, you have to unsubscribe from them, then allow Source FilmMaker to delete the models, and then re-subscribe to them after Source FilmMaker deletes them.)

Thank you, I'll re-subcribe to the models

Again, make sure Source FilmMaker deletes the models (which is when it asks if it's okay to delete them, and you then say yes to that) before you re-subscribe to them.

Sorry, I was AFK for most of the day. In addition to what Zappy said, If you subscribe to a workshop model and it offers you get a popp box asking you if you want to replace materials, ALWAYS select Yes To All... If you select no or no to all, there is a good chance that the model will not work properly or at all in SFM.

No worries... Thank you though... I actually did this because I always select 'No to all'... which was probably why they didn't work. thanks again.

What worked for me was reinstalling the models. :)
