Models won‘t appear
Hello dear community,
As you can read above some models won‘t Sport in my sfm. If I create a new animation set and select them there is nothing in this small viewer. If I import it doesn’t appear. It‘s there but it’s invisible in the viewport. If I press “ctrl“ the bones all are there. I didn’t found any else forum post or tutorial about this.

It would be nice if you could help me.

Thanks :D

Try to reboot Source FilmMaker, make a new session (without loading a map), open the model browser, select the model to preview it, close the model browser (with the "Cancel" button), and check the console (click "Windows" > "Console" near the top-left-ish of Source FilmMaker) for an error saying something like "Failed load of .VVD data for [path].mdl!"

Now, "[path]" there is very important. The model files (MDL, VVD and DX90.VTX) are supposed to be at -/SourceFilmmaker/game/[folder]/models/[path].[extension], with [folder] being any folder, [extension] being the file extension, and [path] being the path in the .VVD data load error in the console.
The most common issue here is having the model files at -/game/[folder]/models/models/- instead of just -/game/[folder]/models/-.

If you can't figure it out, try to copy the last 5-10 lines from the console after previewing the model as explained above, paste them in a comment here, then find the MDL file in File Explorer, hold Shift while right-clicking it, choose "Copy as Path", and paste that here too. With those things, I should be able to help you put the model files in the proper file location.

Thanks for the fast answer. I‘ll try it out tomorrow because my laptop doesn’t has battery and the charger wire(I don‘t know how it’s called) is broken. :/

I‘m getting the following path: dinoports/shantu/shantu.mdl

If I open the files explorer and go to workshop if SFM the model is in the right place

I'm taking it you can't figure out how to fix it. Whether that's because the files are in a wrong place or of an unsupported version, I won't know for certain until you follow these steps:

Failed to load models/!
Failed load of VVD data for dinoports\shantu\shantu.mdl
Binding unchached material “potterywheelpanelwireframe“, artificially incrementing refcount
ChAnimationSetEditor::CreateAnimationSetForModel: model has no facial animation model models/shantu/shantu.mdl [dinoports\shantu\shantu.mdl

But the original file is at: ”C:\Program Files (x89)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\workshop\models\shantu\shantu.mdl”

According to the error message, it should instead be at ”C:\Program Files (x89)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\workshop\models\dinoports\shantu\shantu.mdl”.

The model I want doesn't have a vvd file.
