Either way, did you check the console for errors? This is usually the first thing one should do to see what's wrong.
If it's pink and black checkers, most likely it's something like you've misspelt something, misplaced a quotation mark or have a doubled file name. (Filenames in VMTs are automatically assumed to include "materials/", so often people end up with the VMT looking for the VTFs at "materials/materials/something").
If the model is just missing entirely, then that's actually a model issue - you've got the wrong filename baked into the model. (Like above, often it's because you've got Source looking for the model at "models/models/")
And that sounds like you've applied object scaling to the skeleton and model that you haven't applied before exporting.
Well yeah I had too. This happened before I just forgot what I had to do in blender to fix it.
So the png files HAVE to be the same name as the vtf when I export them?
As far as transforms, Object mode transforms can be fully applied using Ctrl + A, if I recall correctly.
But that doesnt make sense. I put the files in gimp,I changed the names and saved them as vtfs, and then I made the vmts. I didn't change the name. In the vmt it's looking for the vtf that it's related too and it's still not showing the textures. This is really starting to piss me off.
The VTFs need to match the filename/path in the VMTs.
In both cases, check that the quoted filepaths do NOT include "materials/", as otherwise you're looking in "materials/materials/".
As far as applying transforms, no. You want the "Location", "Scale" and "Rotation" options at the top of the list (or at least any for which you've applied transforms). For reasons I don't understand, while there is an option to apply Scale and Rotation at the same time, there isn't an "All" option.
(I'd recommend not applying anything as Delta transforms. I'm not sure how the Source exporter reacts to that and they're a nuisance if you forget that you've used them).
I dont get it...I tried both ways. I named it the same as the part in blender. Missing texture. I named it the same name as the texture. missing texture. No matter what I do it doesnt work! I dont get what your trying to tell me. I renamed all the parts so it would be easy. The original had a bunch of difficult names so I renamed it all like hair arms shirt etc. I named the vtfs the same. No luck. I named the vtf the same as the texture used on the parts. No texture. WTF?!
it says it couldnt find the material if I remember correctly
