TAA
Let me turn it off and it'll be a literally perfect game

sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0

EDIT: It's hard for me to tell whether this actually works... alternatively, in the same folder, you could find Settings.ini and add the line
r.AntiAliasingMethod=0
to the bottom

Goodness thank you!

God, thx, why devs do this is beyond me, who wants to play a game where everything that is not up-close is blurry as hell. Maybe on higher resolutions it's better? But at 1080p every game where you need to look far becomes just a blurry mess.
I remember being super happy finding out you can disable it in Lies of P, why do i need to tinker with config files for a basic function :closetgamer:

Is it really TAA? I don't see any of the "smearing" or "ghosting" artifacts I'm used to seeing with TAA, however I do notice edges of text having stray pixels like I always see with FXAA.

It's almost always on by default because most people don't like aliased graphics unless it's a really retro game. And they're typically considered a "safe" feature to leave enabled because post-processing AA filters don't impact FPS very much (especially FXAA).

It is, and TAA has a pretty big performance hit because its blending past frames together with newly generated ones, it looks awful and smears everything into goo at 1080p, and aliasing looks fine imo, jagged edges are nice crisp and sharp visually

I'm surprised nobody brought this up, but AA level 0 or 1 breaks bloom, because... well, whatever shine effect they used is not set up properly. It creates tiny, flickering specs of white on shiny objects. At least it does for me.

These would normally be removed by antialiasing as bloom is performed after AA. But, since they're here, and all bloom effect does is amplify the brightest spots, well, we've got a huge problem:

I submitted it to the bug report thread. In case it doesn't get fixed, remember to disable bloom if you notice this.

I'd rather see this than the massive amount of blur from TAA haha, good catch though

Ah okay, the flickery nature of shine, dithery camera occlusion (?) effect and other such things are caused by the engine's unhealthy obsession for noisy effects which rely on TAA's smearing:

I played only one or two other UE5 games so I hadn't really noticed, but this practice is simply unacceptable. Can't really blame the developer for that, though.

I found a more optimal combination after some tinkering. Note that I played UE5 games very little and hadn't tweaked with UE4 or 5 much at all.

On top of the existing tweak:

I found that bloom quality level 2 is temporally independent and while less prominent, does look better than without any bloom at all:
r.BloomQuality=2

If all of this is still too bad, here's a (potentially expensive) universal fix for TAA blur and ghosting:
r.TemporalAA.HistoryScreenpercentage=200 r.TSR.History.ScreenPercentage=200
