Who here is interested to play after reviews? If so, how will you do it?
First things first - please don't talk about SBI, there is a specific subdiscussion for that and the developers don't want this to be discussed in the main forum, which is fair.

We now have the review scores:
https://www.metacritic.com/game/flintlock-the-siege-of-dawn/
https://opencritic.com/game/16947/flintlock-the-siege-of-dawn

The game is available on gamepass too.

Will you play it on Steam, Gamepass or just skip it?

I didn't even know this game existed until I browsed WCCFtech looking for Intel CPU burning news and saw a mention. If it's good I'll wait for a sale.

Utch, that hurt.

I guess this topic will get closed like everything else that spreads "negativity".

I played the demo, liked it, bought it. Nothing more, nothing less.
Waiting for the same type of fun as with Evil West.

First of all, this thread is not negative and locking the thread doesn't make the mixed/average reviews go away.

In the case of this game, I'm just a potential buyer who wants to see what fellow gamers think.

Honestly I hoped for the game to receive more positive reviews, but after the demo I was very unsure if this is the next "soulslike" (or lite since it has difficulties) I should play.

It's a Solid AA game from the reviews. If you tried Evil West or RoboCop, you will be aware of quality for this one too.

Average game plagues with SBI. And reviews have said as much. Its a cheap souls clone. Save your money and get Shadow of The Erdtree if you haven't already.

Well usually IGN gives 7/10 for bad games.
This game got a 6/10....

I hate all Souls games like Bloodborn and Dark Souls for their horrible designs and generic graphics, but I do prefer this game. My cup of tea with interesting story, characters and setting.

I actually forgot that it releases pretty soon, thanks for reminding me.

The reviews aren't great but from watching streams I still wanna play this. I think journalist's haven't realized yet that it's an indie game that only costs a third of AAA soulslikes. And this is more action focussed as well which is sth i welcome with open arms. Not into tryhard soulslikes but this is sth I'll play on Gamepass.
I love Elden Ring. I have not finished it yet and will probably replay it on PC instead of finishing it on PS5, but you cannot expect any game to hit the standard like Elden Ring. This is a budget mid game nothing more to it.
Astronimo Jul 17, 2024 @ 12:13pm
And we need more of those mid budget games.
