so are the devs good?

i was out of the loop and wondering if the devs care about the game or not since i see they gave the game for free 2 times now on epic. i am thinking its dead and they do not care anymore and trying to boost the player count since its dying.

i do not care about drama or whatever that's not part of the game. i am wondering if the game is getting proper support or is it a lost cause and they gave up.

We recently had an update but the servers are sometimes laggy. In general, the game is alive and somewhat blooming due to a wave of new players. But I know nothing about Dave drama. And frankly speaking, not like I cared.

They release a new map every once in a while but don't add in anything else, really.

They said they're not going to do custom modded servers (a great and fun experience in Chiv1).

They don't allow map voting, which results in stale eternal duelyard on the duel servers.

Not much armor or heraldry customization like Chiv 1.

Not much weapon choice tbh.

The combat is fun though. Easy learning curve.

I mean, they sort have made the best game in its genre and Bannerlord's attempt at PVP multiplayer has remained an absolute dumpster fire for 4 years now

My only complaint is that Torn Banner has grown complacent with their position to the point where the ETA for them getting anything done is "when Bannerlord is good"

Torn Banner is really bad with ignoring their community, and generally not caring about making a better game so long as there is no better competition.

The Team Objective game mode is designed poorly and the community has brought it up for a long time now, pretty much nothing has been done about it.

I honestly feel that they only released the half finished new auto-balance system (that could of been finished ages ago) only because someone well known in the community committed suicide after being perma-banned for just mentioning the problem with cheaters that is objectively an issue in this game and they were trying to save face in some way. (Oh, and the people who cheat don't even get a slap on the wrist by the company as its been notorious that Torn Banner does nothing about user reports about cheating)

The devs are not good, but there are no better alternatives at the moment. Hopefully a good dev team makes a game like this at some point.

Considering how long Torn Banner has been sitting on their laurels over Bannerlord's failure, I think Chiv2 is the evolutionary dead end of the genre.

Expect Chivalry 3 to just be an Unreal Engine 5 port of Chiv2 with a new map and maybe 3 new weapons if we're lucky

Are they good devs? Not in my opinion.

But Chiv 2 is still a fun game and the top in it's genre and with the influx of players, it made me return after not playing since release.

Theyre trash, the game only exist to milk every existent way to get cash out of it.
Thats why it started as EPIC exclusive, thats why they only add copy/paste armor variants of the same stuff again and again.
But theyre mainly trash, because the game is the buggiest game i ever started on my PC.

I play games since decades, and this studio is literally the worst i ever seen.

servers are diabolical
private servers are expensive and an absolute joke, laggy very desychy (after years waiting lolo)
extremely easy to cheat in this game (cant say as ill get banned)

They dont like criticism either on their discord or here. But they do like releasing cosmetic dlc

But could be worse...they could be as bad as Mordhau devs
