Any constructive tips for playing better?
I feel like this game has a monumental skill gap that can only be bridged through years of experience. Chivalry is definitely not easy to learn and certainly not easy to master. It's genuinely the most difficult game I've ever played because the complexity of the controls and how you can combo them requires a kind of muscle memory I just don't have.

PvP most of the time feels impossible to me. Even though I maxxed out mouse sensitivity, people still seem to fly around my character, hitting me instantly, even though I thought I had a good grasp on using your mouse and keys to accelerate hits and aim behind your opponent. I just can't do it fast enough apparently.

Some people are just untouchable. I don't know how they can have such inhuman spatial awareness in a game as chaotic as this. It's very impressive, but also very frustrating. How they develop the necessary muscle memory to know how to play that flawlessly is beyond me.

Be good at melee
While the lackluster close combat options for archers are designed to punish ranged specialists for allowing enemies to engage in melee, you're not entirely defenseless. The Hatchet has the highest base damage in the game to the point where it's only MARGINALLY weaker than the 1h axe (it's still very very short though), while the Short Sword has enough reach to defend the player in a 1v3, and can hit multiple targets.

From my personal experience when playing archer, knowing how to counter and when to use your heavy or special attacks does wonders at disorientating even a decent amount of intermediate players. Hell, I once prison shanked a knight from full HP with the starting knife, though such encounters can be one-in-a-million, since Archer weapons have a pretty high TTK against most targets.
The weapons are good they're just all short range. The biggest reason by FAR archers are bad in melee is they have lowest stamina in the game.

The fact that your projectiles are unblockable means that you can use your shots to control your target's movement in the hopes of making him walk into your teammates swings. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's the point of the Highland Sword: to get players to consider the archer's role in a 2v1 setting.
Unblockable with weapons but blockable with shield. (Edit: you can counter arrow shots actually)
Highland sword is NOT OP. It is probably not even top 10 weapons in the game. It has nothing to do with archer. Archers (edit: bow archers) are good vs vanguards because vanguards have low health and no shield option.

I know you're trying to help but please stop giving advice lol.

You can parry arrows.

Also, number 1 thing no one has mentioned - Never kill the troubadours! Always be kind to the musicians! :vaultkey:

The Highland Sword has huge damage and reach and while people cite its speed as its biggest weakness, it's still got enough of it to ensure that the person using it can stay at a distance where people using other weapons can't hit him but he can hit them just fine.

That's where the archer comes in to plink at the Highland Sword user. Since he can't block the arrows coming at him, he'll have to dodge or counter them, which could leave him open to getting hit by the player that the archer is helping.
A lot is practice, so the longer you play the game the better you are. A lot of players including me has played the game for hundrets of hours and thats why they know every position, every move and why they have a deep tactical understanding. First of all I can recommend to learn to move forward in a team line, because otherwize even the best players have no chance when they are suroundet by 3 or 4 opponent fighters. So learn to understand the moment when it is the right time to move forward and to find the gaps in the opponent line. The fightsystem itself is much more easy than in Mordhau you need one button to block and you have a few movements. Often you cant even use a combo because of the hight amount of opponent players in front of you. So learn more about footwork because that is the most significant key in this game to be an succesfull fighter. And succesfull teamwork is the key to win because single actions alone are not really helpful in chivalry 2 because you need the cover of your teammates. I played chivalry 1 for almost 2000 Hours, Mordhau for almost 1000 and Chivalry 2 for over 500 now. A lot of players have even more hours, so do not wonder when you just need time to get good in a game. It is with all games the same. In a chees game you would reflect yourself where your strategy must be improved and what you have to learn to fill the gaps, I see Chivalry 2 beside an action game as a strategy game as well and often as 4 dimensional action chess. So if you are an strategical thinker that also helps you to think in that way. Maybe that tips helps a bit.
