Controller(s) Not working

I don't know if anyone else has been having the same issue but I have been dealing with this since Open Beta Early Access. None of my controllers seem to work despite being controllers that should work fine with the game, as well as having no problems working with other games in my library. The controller types I've tried are: Generic Gamepad, Xbox360 (Actually 8bitdo GC adapter), Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. The only time any of these controllers do anything is if I have a Desktop configuration set up.

i'm on pc and even tho the keyboad is working in the menue it doesnt work in the tutorial and the game i can't do anyting and keyboard doesn't work

Maybe you could try setup Steam Input and configure your controller via it and enable it in the game properties via library, it seems to work fine with my controller that has x360 hw emulation.

You may need to set them up in Steam Big Picture Mode.

maybe reset your settings because i have no problems using xbox pro controller (but i use a cable so maybe u are using wireless and its buggy because of that i dont know)

I have done this already, to make doubly sure I checked again and this is the case.

I was using it wired, and I'm not entirely sure how one would go about resetting controller settings but if it's worth doing then I have no problem trying.

oh you use wired. i´ve started to use Bluetooth on mine cause the cable turns the controller off and does funky stuff x.x since i set it on Bluetooth its been perfect for me.

to put it on Bluetooth, unplug the console (ps button would just turn that machine one x.x) on pc go to Bluetooth and devices - add device - Bluetooth - on controller hold down ps and share button and you should get wireless controller on the list. everything should be like mine after that

I use a PS5 controller, but have to make sure Steam recognizes PS controllers in the Steam settings. The icons are all still Xbox in the game though, but I've gotten use to that since all PC games just default to Xbox icons.

I don't know if this is meant to be a recommendation or not but if it is: I have made sure PS controllers are enabled in settings, made sure steam recognized the controller, tested it in another game (it worked), and then tested it in MV (it did not work)

I'm on Linux. What I've noticed is, the game doesn't seem to be launching with steam at all, i.e, no in game over lay, and therefore, steam isn't switching the controller's mode, it remains in desktop configuration. What's more, the game itself doesn't seem to be able to recognise controllers on its own. The only thing you could do, for now, and is what I'm currently using is, setting the button mappings of the desktop conf of the controller up in a way that mimics the game's buttons, so that you are able to control things while playing.
