but Peter's gadgets were more useful you could reduce the number of enemies more easily , but Miles has garbage gimmicks and gadgets , he depends entirely on his electricity AOE attacks to avoid getting overwhelmed

if you're surrounded by like 7 underground goons and your electricity bar is empty you're screwed, u can't stay in one spot for 1 second without being yeeted and killed it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying
If you have no venom, you can:
-go invisible, while the ability to use it to recharge venom is ng+ only, you can still catch your breath and even attack enemies with it. If you're in an open arena like a roof, you can also sneak away and try picking them off quietly. The underground never gets an answer to invisibility.

-Use your gadgets, yes they aren't as good as peter's, but they're by no means useless. Holograms can take some heat off you, mines and the gravity pull create openings, and web can stun most enemies.

-focus on dodging, doing it when your spider sense goes off builds meter that you can then spend on venom powers.

-Use your advanced options for combat. Sure some of the enemy types are difficult to take down like this, but you can try focusing on some of the weaker enemies. steal a gunner's firearm and throw it at a priority target, get around a big fist guy's defense by attacking, dodging behind, then launching, swing strikes in general are a pretty good way to deal with enemies, especially when you can kick them off roofs.

And also, you can try to unlock abilities for building and managing meter, the one for getting meter from attacking venom stunned enemies is considerably helpful. Also use tricks while swinging to build meter outside of combat so you can always start a fight topped off. You want to know how to fight without venom in general because the game giveth, and roxxon taketh away.
Honestly if you can't manage to play the game when it's being as lenient as this, then maybe it's not the right game for you. Definitely explore your options but at some point you'll have to learn and get a grip on the fundamentals, or you'll never manage to play, let alone have fun with it. The further into the game you get, you get access to perks that build up your Venom meter with more and more ease, assuming you have mastered things like off-the-wall attacks, web-throwing, swing kicking, etc.

I'm not sure why people ever say this.
"Boxing is really easy, once you learn how to dodge and land punches"
"Elden Ring is really easy, once you learn boss mechanics and how to dodge"

Saying something is "easy" after mastery renders the entire argument pointless. Difficulty is relative. And if we were to compare Miles Morales to the first game, I'd say this is harder due to how much more challenging it is to avoid taking damage.
Well, OP said that he was basically being forced to use Venom when it's not the case. Also Dodging is easy to master. Same as with the Arkham games; they're story games not "hard" games and I love them for that.
I disagree with this take, I would say this game is challenging in the right way (even if enemies might still get cheap hits/KOs in at times). Instead of being a Spider-Man that can simply throw the kitchen sink at his enemies, you have to conserve your gadgets this time and play carefully, with very few insta-win moves at your disposal. It's what convinced me to give the Arkham series a real try and 100% all of those titles, because previously the concept of combat that revolved entirely around keeping your combo going sounded way too hardcore for an average gamer like myself. This game bridges a lot and doesn't get enough credit for that.

I agree. People that cry skill issue are idiots who would rather forgive ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game design than admit there are some faults, playing SMPC compared to SMMM is night and day, Peter is able to take a few hits before dying but Miles is built like paper, theres no reason the underground should be able to do so much damage, their just tech enhanced humans, same ones that were folding like paper in SMPC

Because in spider man rm, it costs an ultimate slot or a suit gadget slot to increase your damage while in smmm, you just have to do damage and play the game to not only do a big burst of damage, but venom makes enemies take more damage and lasts for 30 billion years and venom is very easy to apply with many gadgets to make it easier to get. This game rewards you for playing as a glass cannon by making it smart to invest in damage and venom but expensive to increase defensive options which also rewards good dodging skills over tankiness because one of spiderman's abilities is spidey senses and while he also has durability, that's usually just used to make fights last longer. This game is also for people who played the last game more than new players as seen in the story and combat system and therefore expects you to be familiar with both. miles is younger than peter, and has done less training and is therefore less built so miles taking more damage than peter makes more sense from a story standpoint. also skill issue

If it's too rough, drop the difficulty down to Friendly Spiderman. There's a level below that, even, but it feels too easy. I don't have enough free time to play a game that is absurdly difficult. Abilities you get later in the game make combat MUCH easier to manage, plus you will just naturally get better at the game as time goes on. There's no achievement tied to difficulty level, so unless you just can't stand the idea of playing the game on less-than-normal" difficulty, there's no reason to torture yourself.

There are no difficulty achievements in this game unlike Spiderman Remastered so you can play new game and new game+ on easy and normal even and get all the achievements.

The first time you play the game, it takes a bit to learn the enemies and mechanics and how to make the most of it. Once you are familar with how to handle them, it is not that difficult if you are patient and dodge attacks.

Using the right suit mods can help a lot... I use the increased perfect dodge window, gadget reload, 50% damage boost on perfect dodge and slow down time after perfect dodge... these can pretty much give u a massive advantage. Using your gadgets like the halo drone and gravity well against crowds help a lot.

Like Spiderman remastered I beat the game on spectacular and ultimate difficulties and got ultimate rank on all challenges and completed all the bases with both bonus objectives in one attempt.

I'm out here playing on Spectacular difficulty (hardest), dying in 2 hits, and not thinking the game is difficult :DE_Tasty:

To be fair I played the first game through on Amazing (and Spectacular on New Game +) so I've got enough experience with the game to easily play it. AND the fact that Miles has access to a lot of OG Spider-mans moves right from the start. (Like zipping a enemy to you in the sky, meaning you can keep most fights off of the ground and avoid everyone apart from the ranged enemies that way).

i play on easy. i find game difficulties are not the same as they used to be.
read on because i explain why. TL;DR because i hate sponge enemies.

used to be easy, medium, hard. where was easy was still a challenge, medium was a bit harder than easy and hard would be a bit harder than medium.

now easy is no death mode, normal is medium, hard is brutal and then there's even harder difficulties after than in many games where it's just a cluster ****.

i've tried this game on the higher difficulties and found it annoying, like playing avengers on anything else but easy.

enemies take longer to kill but look the same.

there's enemies that are satisfying to defeat / kill
and then there's sponge enemies that take way to long to kill.

this game fits in the sponge category. which is why i just play it on easy. i just want to chill and defeat some baddies.

yes, when you upgrade you get more skills which helps, but the enemies are still sponges.

skills = moves = quick kills

in avengers the only thing that kill.....sorry defeat lol enemies quick are the hero moves.
just using the normal punch, kick stuff only chips away health.

same goes for the spider-man games, venom takes them out quick but all the standard beat em up moves take time.

on easy it takes the shortest amount time but all the other difficulties increase it, the higher you play at.

it's a good game but i don't think it's as fun to play on high difficulties.
it's not a challenge when the enemies are sponges. it's just annoying.

try playing avengers which has the sponge factor cranked way up and in that you mostly just fight robots with the odd human enemy which take several punches and kicks to defeat. i like that game too but i can't chill on anything but easy.

maybe i'm getting old but i think it's mostly bad game design. as games used to be really satisfying when you completed them on ALL difficulties, now it's instead a real tedious slog. not all games but AAA seems to suffer from it them most.

sponge enemies are why i avoid rpg's and mmo's. i only got avengers because it's super heroes and those are cool if you like that stuff.
didn't realise the enemies would be annoying to defeat.
wasn't expecting sponge enemies on the spider-man games because they are sp focused.

i guess they just made them that way to extend play times. which seems to be the thing now. took me 30 hrs to complete avengers on easy, i'd hate to think what it would take on the other difficulties.

finished this game in around 10 hrs (story only). haven't completed the side missions yet. haven't finished spider-man rm yet as it seems longer.

but follows the same formula, clusters of enemies, that are either all weak ones or a mixture of weak and harder.

would love it if open world games didn't keep lifting gameplay from mmo's, making your fight sponge enemies all the time.

and just go back to enemies with a reasonable difficulty.

fire up game > kill some enemies, complete a few missions > shutdown game
that was fun !

instead it's fire up game > spend several minutes killing a large group of enemies > wipes sweat off mouse > shutdown game

sums things up nicely.

They are really annoying to fight. And the sheer number of them can be pretty ridiculous. This game loves attacking you from off camera or from behind with non-stop cheap shots. You dodge one attack to land in the path of another. Luckily Miles gets gets pretty damn powerful bu the end of the game and they get a bit easier. But man I got so frustrated fighting them.

they do tend to come in big waves, but most of the time, i found it easy to just dodge onto a wall and kick off of it. its fast, knocks an enemy down, and gives you a free dodge. bringing enemies into the air with the venom jump is also good for big groups. focus the beefy enemies first, and its a piece of cake.

(P.S the underground enemies that block with the fists, can be webbed up, and thrown into a wall or object for an instant KO.)
