Jokes aside, yeah I kinda agree this game reminds me alot of Prototype 1 and 2
theres a difference between an "uninformed opinion" and an "expert opinion".
Man. Wait until you discover Spider-Man 2 (PS2/Gamecube/Xbox) and Hulk Ultimate Destruction (PS2/Gamecube/Xbox).
TL/DR = Unpredictability is the Key to Fun
Increase Difficulty Settings super high to increase unpredictability
Longer Version:
Chess is the same redundant thing over and over again also in its core rules and structure, Basketball is the same redundant limitation as well, Football is the same thing... But they're timeless classics that are enjoyed around the world for decades. Sure, each game is different and how the battle is played but the same thing goes for this Spider-Man Game. Just like a Basketball NBA game each Spider-Man Fight can play out differently, and this is why playing at higher DIFFICULTIES of the game is the key to enjoying not only this game, but many games... The "key" is Higher Difficulty settings (which adds in the unpredictability, and "surprise factor" you seek)... Boredom occurs when you can "predict the outcome" of an event. If Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls played against a crappy Elementary School group of kids in a basketball match, it would be boring... Because there is NO CHALLENGE and everything is predictable.
Add some Spice into your life, enhance the difficulty up to such a high level, where a bullet from a Sniper Rifle can mean the End for Spider-Man.
This is why Dark Souls like games get such high praise, because of its greater difficulty. As for the story line? This is standard and "accurate" spider-man comic book story line. It's Accurate, and focuses on the battle between Peter Parker's personal life and his life of being responsible with all that power.
The real solution is Higher difficulty settings...
This is what makes Chess engaging, when its and the outcome unpredictable
This is what makes Basketball, Football, and Elite Sports so amazing for many people...
It's the "Unpredictable Factor"... And you can only make things "unpredictable" in a video game when you raise the difficulty level (and if that's still too easy, use artificial handicapping methods such as not using suit gadgets etc)
We live in a day and age where we are spoon fed our entertainment.
Back in the day kids and adults had to use their imagination and improvise with their fun.
Learn to make your own rules, learn to self handicap, like the good ol' Dungeon and Dragon Days... Make your own story and challenge... Make things unpredictable...
You have ALL THE TOOLS you need in this modern day of spoon fed entertainment
What are world is having is a bad case of Dopamine Burnout...
We live in a spoiled culture of plenty...
Challenge is gone... Predictability is gone...
This is why Dark Souls type of games excites so many people, because it puts them back in that corner of fear, unpredictability, limitation...
Elden Ring and Dark Souls has practically no story line, but its prize is found in the "Unpredictable" rush...
Give your Dopamine a treat...
Give it some unpredictability via the Gateway of Higher Difficulty Settings
