This game is very cpu heavy
i5 10300H
GTX 1660Ti
32GB RAM
SSD M2
I got 50-60 FPS stable on high settings and 40-50 on very high
Only issue is that randomly my game have drops to 2-3 FPS for few seconds without any reason (sometimes ti happens while simply standing}
I am having issues and I literally wrote multiple times that my laptop never throttles. Throttle point for the CPU is 97 degrees as set by Lenovo, and with all 8 cores at 100% load at 4.4ghz which is an overclock, as the 11800H intel set all core turbo is 4.2 (and very few laptops can maintain even that), I am at 88 degrees Celsius, way below Intel threshold and Lenovo throttle point. That's with *100%* load. For Spiderman I have also now set the CPU to 4.4ghz on all 8 cores (whereas previously I lowered it to 3.7 to keep the fans quiet but now I am hunting for absolute max performance), it is an unlocked CPU and very easy to do with XTU, and CPU load is around 50% during gameplay and CPU temp is in 60's. i.e. zero issues "because" it's a laptop. It's because the game is not playing nice with certain configs. My stutter and low 99% continues to plague me.
The GPU is the full power mobile 3070 and it is maintaining 140W at all times and has not gone over 68 degrees. Performance drop/throttle point for that is set at 86 degrees and I have never been close to it, ever, no matter the game. And no game has ever pushed it as hard as this and I am so impressed with the temps, I am shocked actually.
Not all laptops are created equal and some like the Legion 7 series are created with incredible cooling that gets better temps than desktop chips with similar specs. I have seen Ryzen 5800X and desktop 3060 configs getting much worse temps during gameplay than I am. With liquid cooling too. The vapor chamber in this laptop does it's job, and very well. I DO have a cooling pad though which helps by about another 5%, it keeps that cool air flowing into the bottom intake.
My single core Geekbench 5 is 1685, my multicore is 10K even. That is way beyond a desktop 9900K and close to a 10900K 10 core for multicore (they get ~10,700) and thrashes the same 10900K for single core (~1350). A CPU that is still widely in use for gaming.
Single core is close to a desktop 11900K and close to a 12700K which have way higher clocks and are recent CPUs.
No, for multicore, it's not going to touch a 12700K or 12900K, but the 12950HX will, which will be in the next Legion due soon which I will be buying, as Lenovo knows how to cool. From now on they are the only laptop brand I will even consider, or Asus that use vapor chambers and liquid metal.
Still, 11th gen 8 core that is ~ to 11700K desktop performance should NOT be having an issue.
I have no idea why this game is giving me problems when I can play things like RDR2 in Ultra and GOW same, without a single darn stutter. Cyberpunk on high at 2560x1600 with DLSS on quality and NO stutters. GPU is between 95 to 100% the whole time in that game and it's solid as a rock.
Even considering turning RT with Spider Man here, even at 1080P(!!) with DLSS on ultra performance is a no no, so it's THE GAME.
It needs to be optimised for a wider variety of systems. Don't you think I would be having major issues with other big games if it was the laptop? Instead I am getting framerates on those games that are beating almost all other 3070 laptops in existence! i.e. My computer is performing in the top 5% of all 3070 laptops.
I mean the GPU is using 20% at those 1080P settings and it's stuttering all over.
Temps are in the 40's lol. How is that right?
How can it not be the game? I have disabled Steam overlay, Nvidia overlay and closed Edge and gone to full screen instead of windowed. Nothing is fixing it, I thought I had it nailed when I disabled G Sync but I just continued my game and the problem was back with a vengeance.
On a side note, does anyone know how to start a NEW game here? I don't see the option anywhere, I can only continue. Weird. I want to start a new game to see the intro cinema again as it was in the background last time, and I want to start at a higher difficulty.
This is basically the issue that those of us WITH the issue are experiencing. Low GPU usage but performance issues. I believe it will be fixed quickly as all of Sony's other PC ports are brilliant. It's probably something on our PC's it doesn't like that is interfering.
raytracing off, ~ 50-60 fps
Getting 45 FPS during freeroam and around 90 during missions.
It's utterly terrible the performance, at least my dualsense plays nice.
1080p with high-medium combination using FSR on quality.
