Performance Tuning
Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered offers a broad range of settings that can be used to tweak graphical fidelity and performance. These settings are accessible from the menu before starting te game and from the options menu while pausing the game.

DISPLAY MENU

  • Monitor
Select the monitor the game should be displayed on.

  • Window Mode
Switches between Fullscreen, Window Mode and Exclusive Fullscreen.

  • Display Resolution
Changes the display resolution for the game. Keep the selected resolution equal to the resolution of your monitor for the best image quality. Higher resolutions require more GPU power.

  • Refresh rate
Sets the refresh rate used by your display device. Can only be adjusted when using Exclusive Fullscreen.

  • VSYNC
Enabling VSYNC synchronizes the rate at which new frames are delivered to the screen by the game, preventing tearing. The Half Refresh Rate option limits the frame rate to half the refresh rate, to allow for a more consistent frame rate in situations where the full refresh rate can not consistently be reached.

  • Brightness
Change the brightness of the game.

  • HDR
Toggle between displaying the game in HDR or SDR. This option can only be toggled when HDR is already enabled in Windows.

  • HDR Max Luminance
Adjust the maximum luminance produced by the game in HDR mode. Measured in nits.

  • Anti-Aliasing
Techniques to smooth out geometry edges. The default setting is TAA, or Temporal anti-aliasing. You can also disable this setting, or choose SMAA.

  • Upscale Method
Allows switching between multiple anti-aliasing and upscaling algorithms. These are used both to provide improved visuals as well as to improve performance. This includes Insomniac Games' Temporal Injection, NVIDIA DLSS, and AMD FSR 2.0. Use the options below to set a quality level, including the ability to set a minimum framerate and automatically adjust quality.

  • Upscale Quality
Select the desired quality mode for the upscaling algorithm. Higher quality options use a higher intermediate rendering resolution, while high performance options use a lower resolution but will allow for higher framerate. Will always be set to Dynamic when a Dynamic Resolution Scaling target is set in the option below.

  • Dynamic Resolution Scaling
OFF, 30, 45, 60, or higher if your screen supports it. Can be used to set a target frame rate which the game will aim to accomplish, by automatically adjusting internal rendering resolution to achieve the best visual quality while maintaining frame rate.

GRAPHICS MENU

  • Preset
Select from a range of pre-defined graphics settings for various levels of performance, with the choice of: Very Low, Low, Medium, High and Very High. This changes the settings below. Higher presets offer better image quality, but require more CPU and GPU power.

  • Texture Quality
Choose between Low, Medium, High and Very High. Higher settings improve the visual quality of textures, but require more video memory.

  • Texture Filtering
Select between Trilinear, 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x Anisotropic. Higher quality filtering improves texture quality when viewing at an angle, lower quality can improve GPU performance.

  • Shadow Quality
Select between Very Low, Low, Medium, High, Very High. Higher quality adds more detail to the shadows, lower quality reduces the cost on the GPU.

  • Ambient Occlusion
Darkens creases and corners in the game in order to add depth. Choose between Off, SSAO and HBAO+.

  • Screen Space Reflections
Enable or disable screen space reflections.

    Ray-tracing Settings
Ray-tracing is available on compatible hardware. Enabling ray-tracing has a big impact on both CPU and GPU performance. The combination with upscaling options can improve performance.

  • Ray-traced Reflections
On or Off. Enables the use of raytracing hardware to create realistic real-time reflections that properly represent both off-screen objects and objects that are moving. This can be quite expensive especially at higher settings.

  • Reflection Resolution
Adjusts the number of rays used to render the reflections. The Very High reflection resolution can have a significant impact on frame rate, especially when combined with a high display resolution, and is only recommended on high-end GPUs or at lower display resolutions.

  • Geometry Detail
When set to Very High, geometry like buildings will use higher quality meshes for raytracing, resulting in a much more realistic reflection. Select High for better performance.

  • Object Range
Allows adjusting the range at which objects are considered for raytracing. Lower values can be used to reduce the CPU work needed to prepare for raytracing, and will help avoid the CPU becoming a bottleneck.

    Geometry settings
Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered offers a range of geometry settings, that control the amount and detail of objects visible on screen. Lowering these settings can improve performance in the open world.

  • Level of Detail
Higher quality increases the distance at which objects fade to a lower detail level. Lower quality decreases this distance, improving GPU and CPU performance.

  • Traffic Density
Adjusts the amount of cars driving through the city. Lower values can help reduce CPU bottlenecks. After adjusting it the setting will gradually take effect as you traverse through the city.

  • Crowd Density
Adjusts the number of pedestrians traversing the city. After adjusting it the change will gradually take affect as you keep moving through the city. Lower values can help reduce CPU bottlenecks, as well as allow for faster rendering on the GPU.

  • Hair Quality
Adjust the density and the curvature of characters hair.

  • Weather particle quality
Adjust the quality of the weather particle effects throughout the game.

    Camera Effects
Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered offers a range of camera effects to customize the look of the game. Most of these settings do not have a big impact on performance and can be configured to taste.

  • Depth of Field
Simulates the camera effect of having only a certain part of view in focus.

  • Field of View
Increases or decreases the camera viewing angle by the selected percentage.

  • Motion Blur
Makes movement appear smoother by blurring geometry along the direction it is moving.

  • Film Grain Strength
Controls the amount of film grain that is simulated, to create a film-like distortion effect.

  • Bloom
Allows bright spots on the screen to bleed light onto their surrounding area.

  • Vignette
Enables the Vignette effect which darkens the image towards the edges of the screen to simulate camera lens behavior.

  • Chromatic Aberration
Enables Chromatic Aberration, which simulates real-world lens distortion effects.

  • Lens Flares
Enable to allow bright lights to create internal reflection and scattering artifacts as if viewed through a camera lens.

Hi 2700x, RTX2080, 16GB RAM. W11 1080p 144hz monitor.

All max, DLAA, RTX off and GPU usage is 50-70%, This game need CPU optimalization.

Your game is cpu limited because of that cpu.

A 2700X is Zen + I would move up to a Zen 3 cpu 5700X or if budget allows 5800X3D.

Thats happened before on other games. Its something that you should test and alter on a per game basis.

Max clocks SMT off and SMT on and whatever your oc is but you should be able to oc more with SMT off. So that might even net you a few more fps? Typically if a game responds better with SMT off you should be able to at least add +100mhz at least.

I just want to thanks the team for taking the time to optimize for the niche 5800X3D CPU, I'm using this CPU tuned via PBO2 Tuner (114 75 115 with a curve of -30 all-core) along with 32GB dual rank 3800 CL16 RAM, RTX 3070Ti, X570 board and Samsung NVMe on Windows 11 Pro).

I play at 1440p 144fps DLSS quality, max settings including ray-tracing but SSAO instead of HBAO. GPU usage is always between 90 and 99% except for indoor arenas where it doesn't need to work as hard, with CPU at 30-38% in the open world and 15-20% indoors, 42-45º C temps.

I haven't had any single hiccup or frame drops, everything loads in less than 2 seconds and is responsive and buttery smooth like it was a 2D side scroller.

I know the game will go through different passes of additional optimization because there's people pairing 6 year old CPUs with a 3080 and complaining, they don't understand the memory bandwidth in the PS4 and PS5 is order of magnitudes above PC DDR4. Horizon Zero Dawn also shows very high CPU usage for the same reason, weak PS4 CPUs lead devs to focus on the strong points of the hardware.

I just hope they don't break what they achieved on the 5800X3D. There's a lot of negative feedback here so I just wanted to contribute with a 100% positive experience. Good day to everyone 👍
My setup is Ryzen 9 5900x, EVGA RTX 3070 TI FTW3 Ultra, 32GB (4x8GB) Memory @ 3200MHz.

My settings are as follows; upscale method OFF, DRS OFF, VSync ON, Anti-Aliasing TAA. And the graphics settings as follows; Custom, High, 8x Anisotrophic, High, Low, Medium, Low, Low, Low, SSAO, On, Low, 0, 0, 0, Ray-Traced reflections ON and set to High, High, object range of 4.

The game is running on a 1440p monitor @ 144hz.

When I'm swinging near the tops of buildings, I'll get anywhere between 80-100+ FPS. Get down around the ground with more happening on-screen, and it dips well into the 30's. It would appear that setting the traffic & crowd density to low haven't done much, as I'm not seeing a reduction on-screen in those departments.

As much fun as I'm having, I haven't found a way to at least get a locked 60 FPS or above on any settings. Spent lots of time tinkering around and haven't found the right combination yet.

Hopefully, something clicks in or we get a CPU optimization update that really allows this game to run as well as it should.

I'm experiencing performance drops whenever I play this game for about an hour or two. I see fps drops usually when I'm web swinging it goes from 60fps to about 40fps. Also, for some reason I can't change the display resolution when I set the game to Windowed mode.

My specs are below:

Windows 10
i7 11800H
RTX 3050
16GB RAM
1TB NVMe SSD
the game has a lot of fps drop, the performance fluctuates a lot when swinging around the city.

RX 6600XT 8GB
R7 5800X
16 GB RAM
the game is crash fix
RX 6600, R5 3600, 16GB RAM. Full 1080P, medium settings across the board with motion blur off, no FSR. 100+ FPS in most areas, with drops down to 55-60 during low swinging & a few other areas such as the homeless shelter.

I lowered settings down to medium from all HIGH thinking I'd get a pretty huge boost in performance, I've only noticed maybe 5-10 FPS tops. I could bump it back up and experience roughly the same performance. TBH, it's still highly playable & I'm happy with day 1 performance, especially for my lower end/mid tier rig.

The game seems clearly unoptimized, there will be 2 areas that look the same, one area will give something like 120 FPS while swinging, go around a corner & it'll drop literally half down to 60 for no apparent reason. Hopefully they release some optimization updates, the game is pretty incredible.

hope they make a optimization. rtx 2060 r5 3500 c16 3200mhz 2x8 ram playin on nvme m.2 ssd and gettin nearly 60 thats a bullshiet bro im gettin 50-60 fps on every settin lowest same ultra same and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dlss ♥♥♥♥ is not workin im seeing in youtube when people opened dlss they go 60 to 80 90 . when i open dlss i get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 3 fps upgrade nice work nvdia
It's because of your CPU. You're in the CPU limit and that's precisely why settings and dlss make no difference.
You can try upping your resolution using DSR or DLDSR if you game at for example 1080p normally
i have a ryzen 3700x, 3080, got 50 to 60 fps (even 4x) while swinging. you need to fix this
Running EVGA 3080ti ftw3, 32gb ram, i9-9900k, 4k60hz monitor and if i play normally its fine but if I use nvidia freestyle, the performance is dropped massively. No issues on other games, they still run 40-60fps with 16+ filters but 8 on this game is a massive dump.

You've taken words like "Performance", "Tuning" and "Guide", mixed them together and in the end are misleading us with this topic/discussion which I personally thought might be an actual guide to improving my performance (even though I already did some extensive benchmarking and testing, and the conclusion is that you need to patch some things here and there yourself since almost all of the performance issues are on your end regarding the actual port itself)...

To show you one example of how this is not even remotely close to an actual guide for tuning the performance of your product, in regards to Texture Quality, you didn't even mention the exact amount of VRAM required for each of the 4 presets...but merely detailed what the game already does in its menu/s upon trying to fiddle with said presets.

Basically this so-called guide can simply be found in the game, because all you are doing here is merely listing the system requirements and the in-game settings which again, can already be found in the game with their respective explanation as to what does what, not actually guiding us to somehow get better frames and whatnot...I mean what the hell?

That having been said, please do something about the rendering requirements for some of the city's areas and the fire and other particle effects that right now tank the frames from a fluid 60fps to a rather stuttery 30fps on both the lowest and almost highest presets (something that makes no sense).

I mean, I might not be "the sharpest tool in the shed", but when a game displays the same frames in an area/circumstance/situation on both the lowest and almost highest of its presets, then there's definitely something wrong with how the game is handling everything and not the PC on which the game is being tested.

In any case, it's my understanding that at least a "Day One Patch" should already be on its way so here's hoping you deliver on that.
they did patches before the game came out so you dont even know what your talking about.

i love how you have a ♥♥♥♥ gpu but then parrot everything everyone else says. you should take the time to do some research before coming here to sound moronic

or dont be an idiot and buy a 3d cpu. the 3d models are for production like redering videos or coding, this meaning you'll have less performance with it in any game.
