Controller Support - Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered
Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered has built-in support for a range of controllers, listed below. When using a supported controller, the game displays in-game icons for each type and fully supports rumble features. We recommend using one of these controllers for the best experience.

Supported Controllers

  • DualSense (PlayStation 5)*
  • DualShock 4 (PlayStation 4)
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox 360
  • XInput compatible controllers
  • Steam Deck

*Use wired USB connection to experience full set of DualSense controller features

Steam Input

Marvel's Spider-Mand Remastered also supports Steam Input, that allows you to use any controller and enables controller reconfiguration. You can configure your controller in the General Controller Settings, found in the Controller section of the Steam Settings menu.

Troubleshooting
If you are experiencing issues:

  • Try disconnecting any other controllers that might be connected to your system.

  • Try disabling Steam Input: right click the game in Steam, select Properties, choose Controller and select Disable Steam Input.

The only way i can get ps4 controller working is by using big picture mode and literally disabling and reenabling controls multiple times.

I've bound the game's native Steam Input function "Camera Movement" to the gyroscopes of my controllers, but the camera goes dormant in many situations until I move the right joystick, after which I can use motion controls as normal again.

These situations include:
  • Getting a bullet dodge prompt
  • Cutscenes starting
  • Mission rewards display
  • Misc. other events

This is the case on PS5, PS4, Switch Pro, and Steam Controllers.

As a workaround I am switching the entire controller layout to emulating a keyboard and mouse during those times I am activating motion controls. It is a somewhat aesthetic change but best practice on PC is to include an option to lock button prompts to one input method or another, as it is I'm having prompts flash unhelpfully between keyboard and mouse prompts on the one hand and controller prompts on the other.

I could also just have used the JM presets, but that results in bad motion controls.

I appreciate that as a port the aim is to make the game playable on much the same basis as in the original while fulfilling typical requirements set by PC players, but it would be nice if user created motion controls were supported by having the Camera Movement function work as it should.

EDIT: It's a Steam beta thing, as discussed further down in the thread.
EDIT 2: Apparently it is not, it's just less obvious with some gyro activation methods than others. Going to the Steam stable branch did fix my newly developed question mark prompt problem though.

This issue is driving me crazy because I see it nowhere, but when I input a "perfectly" diagonal up left with the left analog stick of a ps4 controller, the game just make it go up, it's really irritating to just move with that, when I want to walk diagonally he just end up walking forward.

It does this with all 3 of my ps4 controllers, I've tried everything (steam input disabled, reinstalling drivers, other cables) and the problem isn't there in any other game. With the steam input enabled the problem disappear but I hate using this mode because it brings so much more problems I can't count (since it tries to emulate inputs).

Does someone have this issue too ?

Can you please add an option to select button UIs regardless on what controller you are using?

I'm using Dualshock 4 via direct input bluetooth dongle (for faster reading) and the game still recognizes it as a Xbox One controller.

Would be nice to just let us choose what UIs to appear.

Everybody with a DualSense controller and having problems.

Follow these steps in the YouTube video. It works like a charm!!

I disabled Steam Input and all that jazz but haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are hardly noticable, also the game crashes after a few minutes with the DualSense.

Xbox One controller works flawlessly though.

Dualsense works fine BUT the sound effects sent to the built in speaker are waaay too quiet, even on highest setting. It is so low compared to the *normal* tv or home cinema sound, that it becomes pretty pointless and un-enjoyable.

On a Xbox One Wireless controller, I'm having issues with finishers. The timing seems quite a bit off, You have to press B + Y but when you do it often only registers either B or Y and does those actions instead of a finisher. I've played this game twice on PlayStation, I know finishers aren't supposed be this sensitive to the point where you have to perfectly hit both buttons on the same frame, It was something I didn't even have to worry about. Either way I'd like some help if possible. I always have more than enough focus and I'm playing the Epic Game Store version in case that matters.

One temporary fix that worked for me is to open the map when you have this bug and it seems to fix the problem, open and close the map each time you have trouble doing finishers.

Maybe it's an issue tied to the framerate ? Because it isn't there on ps4 at 30 fps, and there are other problems that seems to disappear in 60 fps.

I had the same issue just now. DualSenese was showing as blank in game. Right click on Spider-Man on your Steam Library, controllers tab, and disable steam input. It worked for me. Haptic feedback and icons started appearing again.
