Insufficient Memory Amount Error on 4090 ?
Game crashed to desktop moments ago with a "insufficient video memory" error, I can't see this game using 24GB of VRAM.

Other games play just fine.

Maybe the devs can look into it ?

Check what other stuff is running on the background on your PC.
This error is more likely to be related to system memory, not video.

Only thing else running was Steam itself, No monitoring programs, OSD, Nothing.

Probably just a bug.

ITs not necessarily for something running. Windows 11 if you are using it, particularly has a bad habbit of not "unloading" out of the memory once you stop using a program or playing a game. MEaning you could have played a game before you launched spider man, and if you close the game you can still see a ton of memory being utilized.
I would suspect a simple restart of your PC would fix that for you and no longer show up.

Personally I made it a habbit of cleaning cleaning my memory before I play any game.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Interesting thanks for the info.

I had a look and for whatever reason my page file was set to 2GB on a separate drive, Changed it to my main 4TB NVME drive and let Windows decide the amount it wants to use, No more issues :)

I wonder if this is my issue however I already have it set to automatically manage paging file size for all drives. I have like literally nothing running in background. Game runs smooth as silk and then out of no where, I get crashed to desktop with no error. This has been nearly every play session since the last update game out for the game. I just updated my Nvidia graphic drivers to be sure and still happens consistently. At this point, I can only blame the last update for the game, because again, I never crashed until that patch came out and since then it has been nonstop. Sucks.

Well, if you didn't get the "Insufficient video memory" error that OP posted, you're probably having a different issue.

I have had one crash to desktop (just walking around in Otto's lab, so it's not like I was in a super intensive area) in the entire time I've been playing since the last update (and I started over). It was random, but it hasn't happened again, so as for what caused it, no idea. But anyway, random crashes to desktop are not what this thread is about, this thread is about a very specific error that isn't what you got.

I would run sfc /scannow from an administrator command prompt just to make sure no Windows components are corrupted. I actually did this a couple days ago for a different issue, and my one crash to desktop was before this. It did find some corrupt files. I don't know if that actually fixed anything in my case or if they crashes are just really rare.

I usually don't receive any errors when it dumps me out to desktop however I had a recent one and it did give me an error. Not sure it was this exact one as I can't recall but I do remember it stating to try updating graphic drivers or lowering settings. That one allowed me to submit the log to Sony. I've never seen that one again or ever prior.

I tried your recommendation to validate the game file integrity and now the sfc command. It did indicate it found some corrupt files and replaced them so I'll see how things go. Thanks.

Yep my one crash also allowed me to send an error report, but it didn't give any details on the cause.

So far, since verifying the game integrity and doing the sfc command, I don't think I've crashed again. Thanks for that tip. I've also just beaten the game :) On to the DLCs and then Miles Morales :D
